Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

It's the nature of the corporate beast

We all signed up for this voluntarily - working for Sabre. You think there is a better corporate job out there that you'll be safe from lay-offs? Maybe, maybe not. The point - right, wrong, or indifferent, lay-offs are the norm in the corporate world, and we shouldn't be shocked when it happens. Yes, it sucks, and I feel for those impacted. Quite frankly, those impacted will probably be better off - it may not feel like it now, but when they land on their feet with a new, better job, hopefully they'll look back at this experience as a speed bump in their career and be the wiser for it. Don't be bitter - it's the corporate way.

By the way, a smart CEO would find alternatives to laying people off. Voluntary layoffs, early retirement, moving people to different jobs, organizational restructure. Any number of things other. Heck, we had 'new hire orientation' last Monday in the midst of these layoffs - seems pretty stupid, right? A rough road ahead with our new CEO as he attempts to rebuild this company and take it public. I think the company will survive despite his 'leadership', not because of it.

Good luck all!
