Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Free at last!

I am thrilled to say that I have secured a job with a FHEG competitor closer to home. When I leave, there will be nobody left at the store with any experience on campus beyond 6 months. Our 9+ year manager left after seeing the writing on the wall after the April layoffs. I've been looking and ramped it up after the November round, and finally I'm free, and I have over 5 years experience on campus. This mismanaged rush season, mandated by the home office putting such strangling limitations on bringing in books to sell and coming up with a lame "save the sale" program designed to sell new books to students who won't buy new books, and refuse to prepay for a rental and hence was a total failure, is the nail in the coffin for all text managers, IMO. If you're not already laid off, you will be. Seasoned text managers could have helped slow the bleeding, but corporate decisions far from their customers have killed the stores. Amp up your job search!
