Your response to 670ex'd may turn out to be correct. In this life if you want something you must pay for it. Taking without compensation is called stealing. Usually, that activity is reserved for the banks and congress.
If they need to cut payroll, pay for it! Inflicting abuse isn't an option. Intentionally inflicting pain and abuse is a criminal option.
