please note there is a difference between the academic rigor of University of Phoenix and the mismanagement of the company's finances. I would put University of Phoenix's academic program against any traditional school and believe without doubt you will find UoP's graduates are as well-educated and competent as graduates from other traditional schools. However, the way the company/school’s finances are managed is another story. I believe there are many ethical issues in the way UoP obtains and manages the money it receives from federal and private student loans, the military, and other sources. This mismanagement of funds casts such a huge shadow over the entire school that it is easy to assume the academic rigor is also questionable. This is not the case. I have met those in academics and can personally say they are honorable and highly educated people who tirelessly work to create an excellent program that makes the student more knowledgeable and competitive in the job market. Yet academic rigor may begin to suffer as the school cuts more curriculums, instructors, and student support initiatives in order to drive up personal profits and bonuses for senior management.
