Anonymous8649, that is patently false. The last several layoffs have been preceded by sell offs such as this. Also timed quite conveniently with those $500,000 to multimillion dollar bonuses for the top execs. It's documented in the many pages on this particular board. So I would say it's not a disgruntled individual employee. That's just naive or perhaps, more accurately, disingenuous on your part. There are MANY aware (what you call disgruntled) employees.
Anonymous8649, "disgruntled" sounds like a word that management uses to rationalize their anti-worker, anti-student positions. You are right that executives have been selling off stock for years. But when they cut sites(115 cut in 2013) and plan to offshore their IT at the same time they are taking out capital, that's something different.
If you actually followed the stock trading by folks at Apollo that have stock, they have been selling off stock in big blocks at times for the last 15 years. That is normal for folks that have millions of shares and perhaps want to redistribute. I have been with Apollo for almost 20 years and the only layoffs that occurred were due to some closing of Midwest campuses, the Europe campus; they were all business decisions based on plugging holes where there is no demonstrated need for a local campus or as many learning centers. There are no current mass layoffs taking place; the news being discussed is for 2013. Perhaps this is more an issue of disgruntled individual employee?
