Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

After going downhill for at least two years, the big reason CCi isn't going to fail is because ED allowing a drawdown on the 21 days?

The price of a share is under 25 cents, and CCi didn't get here overnight. Is there any other reason suggesting that CCi will recover? The next six months is going to be very interesting.

Yes, all buyers of businesses that the govt forces to shut down look to keep the staff of that business. God this is getting pathetic. The LAST people they are gonna ask about operations are the morons who manage it now. Remember when Barclays kept the people left over when they bought Lehman bros? No? Well, you certainly remember all those jobs saved when b of A bought countrywide? No? Well, JP Morgan managed to save all those bear sterns jobs...oh wait....

You are right. I do not know how this will apply to faculty. That is a good question. My director was very vague on the details, but I assume that directors are not given very many details either. I do know that the buyer is NOT another university or college, so I am not sure how that works.

That's all well and good for those in non-faculty positions, (I'm at ECP online) but I don't think 20771's remarks apply to faculty. (No offense, I think it's just different for faculty members.) We are held to expectations and have evaluations like other employees do, but I don't know to what extent we will be kept based on our merit over another faculty member. It's not like retention could be a determining factor, since everyone's attrition rates are high. And keeping full-time faculty vs. adjunct faculty is another question - I'm sure that the school must maintain a ratio of adjuncts to full-timers just like traditional schools, or so one would think. It's sure cheaper to have all-adjuncts and not pay any of them benefits...kind of frightening.

Anonymous20771 - great post! This is logical and exactly as any prudent buyer would move forward. Thank you for taking the time to describe this for us all to consider.

Everest University Online is not closing. We are being sold. There are already 3 potential buyers and 1 of them is a very interested. The most interested company is not a college or university. And they will need current employees to keep the company in business. So if you want to stay working for the new owners, then you should make yourself a potential asset by showing you are a desirable employee.

The purchase of EUO will not require that the new owner must keep all employees. They WILL be able to let any employees go that they do not want or need. The sale will not be a quick transaction and is expected to last several months. So if they have to let some employees go, then they will look to our current region/directors for advice on which employees are the best. So the question you have to ask yourself is........What would my director say about me? Would they choose me over the person next to me? You need to make yourself the best choice when it all comes to the important decisions about who will stay and who will go. Good luck to all who choose to stay and take their chances!

Many of the posters with terrible attitudes are going to have a hard time finding a job. Employers can tell when a person is a hater and doesn't want haters poisoning their staff. The reason people can't get jobs is not because of what's on their resumes. It's because lack of professionalism.

Anonymous 20730, if you come here to talk trash on CCi, have fun. But when you start with your bashing and name calling of employees you've crossed the line. If you have never been or no longer are employed by CCi then stay the f*** off this post. I have had numerous job offers since early spring but have elected to stay the course. So for your bottom feeder bull shit about full time employees, kiss my ass. Sounds like you're someone who lost their job because you were a slacker and now you're so bitter.

The economy is not the reason those CCI employees could not find other jobs. The reason is that no competent organization would hire them. CCI is a bottom-feeder not only with students, but also with full-time employees, especially those in admissions, financial aid, and placement.

Things have calmed down a little bit around here and I would like to add to this post.

The past few weeks have been very comical, every day we heard ‘I am looking for a new job!” and “ Trust me it may look like I am working for my grads, but I am working for me”

The numerous interviews that went on in conference rooms became hilarious and the individuals who thought they were actually going to come out of Everest into fantastic high paying jobs, were quickly brought to reality when no one was getting anywhere and the ‘I can’t wait to get out of here’ attitude slowly diminished, when only a very few of them actually found jobs in this downturned market.

They still work here and they still continue to complain about operations, management and rules. However, they come here every day (and complain) and every other Friday they pick up their checks without compliant… Such Rebels!

My suggestion for those negative nellies is ‘please just leave’ please ‘quit poisoning’ the atmosphere with your ‘bad attitude’ some of us do enjoy our jobs here.

I mean do we really find it necessary to complain all of the time? Sheesh

How can CCI recover? It's in the process of shutting down. It will cease to exist in 6 months, people! Does nobody understand what's happening?
