I always used to have four courses and now I only have one section.

2086 - I asked my superior. Runaround. No answers. We don't have adjunct meetings with any regularity. I think the problem is low/no enrollment. I just want to plan my next 12 weeks or start looking for a job. I guess that's too much to ask?
I've been teaching at CCi/Everest for over 10 years in their on-line division. There is a two-week drop/add period for a reason - for example, students change their minds about courses they want or they register late. You may well find a course filling during the second week of the term, or at the end of the first week. I have courses, all have filled, although all did not fill at the same time.
Before getting upset at CCi, please keep in mind the drop/add period. I suspect that many of you will get students. I've been very well treated by CCi during the 10+ years I've been teaching for them. Many of my students would not have the opportunity to get an advanced degree or an education for a new career but for CCi/Everest.
I'm a bit disappointed to see the lack of loyalty expressed by some of you. To those who are tempted to respond with "I haven't had any loyalty in return" I would say that a check that comes like clockwork every two weeks, and regular courses are demonstrations of loyalty on CCi's part. (And yes, I know that some of you will say that payment for what you do is not a demonstration of loyalty and if so, I refer you to professionals such as doctors, lawyers, accountants, etc. who perform work and don't get paid. We, too, are professionals, and we do get paid.) In addition, I have been kept very well informed as to what is going on. My dean scheduled conference calls for the adjuncts at different times to accommodate different time-zones. I suspect that if you ask your contact you, too, will get information.
Finally, before anybody claims that I'm a "plant" working full time for CCi and being paid to respond to things of this nature, I have a full-time job outside of education. I love to teach and that's why I do so. Our students and our employer, even if it is our second employer, deserve our loyalty and respect. Please - let's see a bit more of that on this discussion link.
Have two ECP classes, one is full the other has no students but I typically find that the last class on my list does not have students in it and is dropped? The students in the class that is full are participating.
20827 - That's how it would work at a traditional community college, but CCI doesn't care about full-time status we are ALL At-Will employees, full-time or not. It's cheaper for them to fire their full-timers and keep adjuncts, so they don't have to keep paying out health benefits.
Probably full timers get the classes first. Will they take classes away from us to give to full timers, to save $$?
I guess the joke is in adjuncts. Everyone but us seems to have been in the know. Now we have no classes and no explanation. I'm not waiting around to find out my date.
I've never had a class that didn't fill. Does management ever say anything? Are we stuck waiting for 2 weeks and then that's it? Does management contact us at all? They've been nothing short if silent so far.
Empty classes for me, too.
So, is that it? We are all just out if a job without any input from management? Are these classes likely to fill at all in the next 2 weeks? Of all the classes I have taught, I have only had 3 new students during add/drop.
I guess this is the reality that this is the end. If enrollment is this low, they won't be able to afford to stay open to sell.
What's so sad is the jerks last week complaining they had 40 students and were going to complain and go to ED. Them the jerks that defended him, also hating their jobs (and stating it out right.) They got full classes. I guess the rest of us have the jump on finding a new gig . . .
I teach Strategies for Success and received 0 classes.
Weird. I teach online and have full classes. Not sure why some are full and others empty? My Comp I is the fullest, comp IIs have about 20 each.
Anyone have inside info on the true enrollment numbers for online for summer?
Feel lucky that your one populated. I've been with CCi since 2005 and I always managed 4 classes. Since the new PD came to roost, last quarter I was stuck with 2 that populated. This quarter, I got assigned 2, but neither populated. I guess I'm not good friends with the PD. I have never seen such shameless nepotism than I have with this company.
I have two classes of Comp I. One is filled to the brim with 32 students and the other is empty.
PD said Everest Online enrollments dramatically down. No students in any of my classes. We are sinking fast!
I'm guessing that means I am unemployed now.
My classes are empty. Zero students.
