Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Madison Indiana store to close Sept 13th.

It was announced yesterday and confirmed by the Chamber Of Commerce that the Madison, Indiana Staples store is closing on September 13th. Whoever said the stores that get Back To School were safe was full of it, this is the best the store has looked in recent years, good manager, great staff, lots of product in stock and properly displayed, but down the toilet it goes. Guess I'll be going to Amazon and Wal-Mart more often.

"In addition to Madison, the Greensburg and Seymour locations will also be closed." Both of these are in larger towns, too.

I am surprised they even gave you this much notice. Hopefully they are offering severance or transfers for associates that stay through BTS. If they say they are going to - get it in writing. I would not put it past this company to dangle the carrot of severance or some other incentive to work through the season, then say tough luck in September. Mid September is late enough to give them a decent BTS, so the part about not getting shippers or product really does not apply to your situation.

Sorry and good luck in the future.
