It's against the law to make employees take a furlough, but make them work during that time. You CANNOT do it. I wonder if Fitzgerald knows you're asking people to work during unpaid time off?

This is a lot of fuss over a small incident. Apparently, one PD sent an email asking that her folks work during furlough. My guess is she is the only one, and that it has already been reported to HR and corrected.
25281 - You took the OP's comment out of context. You ingnored the balance of the sentence, after the comma. It is NOT illegal to impose an unpaid furlough. It IS illegal to require an employee to work during the unpaid furlough.
"It's against the law to make employees take a furlough" No it isn't, please read the following

Our PD told us she did not even want us to log on, if we took a week off.
Since it's his job to make sure laws are followed, I would think he would be interested. You can't ask people to take unpaid time off, and the require them to work.
Earlier post.
Anonymous25221- you are not faculty!
nobody asked us to do that ???? what are you talking about
And does Fitzgerald cares about that?
