Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

Camden Kid

You certainly seem to take an interesting stance on some of these issues but do not seem to lean one way or the other. You are obviously aware the dire situation the company is but I never see you arguing for or against the company (and that is fine). You seem to be here simply playing devil's advocate so I'm curious; are you an employee (current or former), student (current or former), or a journalist fishing? I seriously doubt you are an unrelated third party who has some vested interest in this story without reason.

I can tell you that I am a current employee at online in Pittsburgh.

You are a strategic corporate analyst in the same sense that I am a proffessional basketball player.

Community college adjunct and strategic corporate analyst? Sooo what you really mean is employed part time with too much time on your hands. You post links to articles and make a lot of insinuations without the actual financial know how to back anything up. Definitley a troubled company but it looks to me like you are trying to gain twitter followers lol.

@CompliancePhil, I am a community college adjunct and strategic corporate analyst, primarily examining for-profit education. I'm also an advocate for working-class people, including students, workers, and communities. I am not a short seller and generally oppose stock speculation. I know each for-profit corporation is different, and examine each company's history, structure, strengths and weaknesses. It appears that the most profound change that has happened at EDMC (and many other for-profits) is their absolute desire to maximize short-term profit.
