Thread regarding Follett layoffs

The key to survival is to reduce rents pd to colleges

Hang in there and real soon the company will be sold and surely the new owners will bring in a better group of leaders. If not, then all the bookstore providers will face a similar demise since a 13% rent cannot be sustained in this market.

Or maybe a company will think of an idea that could give added value to the student or the campus or both.

Follett internal development gets an F in development in all these categories. How about development standards, code resuse across all of IT, agile development and responsive design (I'll take an application UI that is intuitive and attactively designed-where did you learn UI design India?). You guys should eat your own dog food once in a while and perhaps the apps would get better

The matrix measurement would be meeting deadlines. If not then the conclusion would be according to PMP standards would be poor project and systems management. There are matrix measurements correct?

so let me get this straight. ML is afraid someone will post the video, so she lies and says that we have technical difficulties that prevent streaming. There is an example of Follett integrity. What is she so afraid of? We streamed town hall meetings for years without a problem. Maybe she is worried that we will compare the various versions and discover the constantly changing stories.

Streaming is simple technology and is in place. The issue is some knucklehead will post the video on Youtube. Similar to the BS layoff email a whileback.

Quality has gone out the door. Success is defined as throwing lots of money at contractors to do a lousy job. If the people who are judging don't know any better, you can proclaim loudly how good a job they did and get away with it.

@15980. Repeated successes? You're another one that obviously thinks success is defined by just "getting something done no matter the quality". Until management like you realizes how much money we waste by poor project and systems management, this company is doomed. You only look at hard costs which is nothing compared to all the money we blow by ramming stuff in.

It is actually called confidence based on repeated successes.

If only it was that easy. Lower your rents and you won't win any bids. Increased rents are a fact of life for college industry. Both BN and Follett know that leased stores is their only strength, can't compete with weak websites so rents will continue to go up.

To compensate for higher rents, sell more higher margin goods (ie not textbooks) and keep cutting employee costs at the home office and stores.

Might also be a good idea to quite blowing money on new systems with very little payback. efollett v1 and v2, new pos or windss - noone cares. They are not competitive advantages.

Don't be a hater on CNS. Envy of those superior to you is a character flaw.
