It doesn't matter how many vertical markets you go into. If you feed them with content people don't like, you get displaced. It's just smoke to sell to investors while oriental dreamworks sets up, and they try to cut costs. Upper management takes every film as an opportunity to fire more people. They might be tweaking the numbers and report less, so that they can fire people and claim them as a loss, which then allows them to hire at China at a faster rate. The opposite happens with Paramount who is inflating box office numbers for Transformers. Both actions obey the need of meeting numbers to attain future goals.
