There are plenty of people who could just write the check. Just to put things in perspective, on December 31, 2013, last December, Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett and company, had $48,186M ($48B) CASH in the bank. Buffett could write a $1,400M dollar check and it wouldn't even be a material event, and there would be over $46,000M ($46B) cash in the bank. There are plenty of other people who could just write the check, but the problem is those who can write the check simply are not interested in CCi. And mind you, the market is valuing this company closer to $25M--Pocket Change for Buffett and company, and Buffett could provide essentially infinite cash to clean up this mess. Not going to happen.
