Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

It's time to move on...

With the organizational changes with retail and even delivery I've decided that I'm overdue in getting away from this company. My region is a huge contributor in the companies failure for it's lack of competency and utter negligence. Though the one who so-called "Directs" is only concerned with himself staying comfortable. (very rarely leaves his home) As 99% of "his" region states, "he leads from a bubble and sets unrealistic expectations with fear while scamming those above his level of pay. It didn't work at FedEx or in the NE region, why would it work in this region now? It hasn't, you have destroyed what could have been an elite region and made things right for yourself before it's over. Not as smart as you think huh? It's obvious that you are clearly over compensating for being a "little guy". You could have saved your reputation and went out as a True Leader, a Leader who people respect and admire but again you failed miserably. 3 strikes and your out, Jerk!

You know, the personal touch really does matter. One of my local managers has always been an incredibly hard worker, has genuine concern about the people who work under him and doesn't have a spiteful, arrogant bone in his body. Subsequently, I've worked my ass off for this guy, and I don't regret a minute of it. For me, HE is 'Staples'. I know exactly who the thread-starter is referring to. He's always come off that way. To everyone. Nobody cares for him. I mean, NOBODY. When you have people with those types of personalities in positions with a significant degree of responsibilities, they tend to become more unbearable the longer they stick around. When my layoff comes, I'm truly going to miss working for the local manager I referenced in the beginning of my reply. Working for people like that is as rare as it is rewarding. As for the other jackass, sadly there are no shortage of those types in corporate America today.

Damn, well said! HAHAHAHAHA! You are exactly right and I couldn't have said that better myself. I have heard things about this guy from our director and TA's. I would hate to know that I'm hated that much. In his mind though I'm positive he has justification for being an arrogant narcissist. He probably lives alone. No one who treats people the way I hear he treats people has a wife and family. If so they either despise him or are just like him! I'm sorry and really feel for the associates who work in that region. We are very fortunate to have a director who seems to care about our personal well being and families. I feel that he does anyway. Some may not think so but actions speak louder than words.

At the very least put your resume out there until you get a job! Staples is not going to be a company for very long. I love all these people from corporate who comment...we will still be a company ...online... After what? After you alienate your customer base who have headed for Amazon and W.B. Mason. After all the bad press they are getting I would not be surprised if they join the ranks of Circuit City, Borders and other long defunct retailers who thought they were too big to fail.

I get the downturn, I get that we have to downsize, I get it all. What I do not get is why the f-ckers are still getting paid tens of millions of dollars every year when it was a set of their mistakes that accelerated our ride to the bottom

Hey at least we all got treated horribly while being taken on this ride to hell (Framingham).

Couldn't have said it better myself. You nailed it! I'm praying that I get the new job that I interviewed for. Will give him and this company the finger before they close us.
