Thank God Richard T. from online computers at Everest is on partial furlough right now. He struck some kind of deal with the idiotic, focused on 2nd job Dean James S. to "work" half time during this one week instead of his usual 50-60 hours doing whatever gosh knows what. He thinks our department would fall apart if he took the actual mandatory week off. Even having him on partial furlough has been wonderful. Just like we harrass students with the utterly useless Outreach BS, this guy is relentless on micromanaging our instructors who are stuck with a student population that cannot read or write, and padding their welfare with stipend checks. Sadly he will be back to his normal schedule next week to continue his madness.

As an instructor, I can attest to this PD's inflated ego. He is constantly threatening us with getting less classes and bad evals for student attrition. I teach those that want to learn. I don't beg those that choose not to attend classes or are in school unprepared or for the wrong reasons. Attrition is not my problem and the wasted time of doing ineffective outreach is not my job.
As for the Dean, I have never seen anything from him. It sounds like his focus is elsewhere (would not surprise me if another full time job) and he is collecting his Cci paycheck for doing nothing.
I cannot wait until the PD and Dean are knocked off their thrones.

It is interesting that a PL (program lead) posted this. Many of the instructors were under the impression that you guys liked him. Several Pl’s are so far up his butt. I am surprised to see a PL has a thought of his or her own.
He is under the impression that he is a great boss and that he is fair and we respect him. No one respects him. The only people I’ve seen with egos this big are celebrities. I have never encountered anything like him in my 35 years in the workplace. He gets my vote for the worst boss of the century award! Instructors, if you are there just to collect your last remnants of a paycheck, ignore him. Don’t worry about being fired. We are all about to be fired. Teach your class the way you want to teach it.
334, I wondered the same. He has absolutely no sufficient credentials to be anyone’s boss. He always threatens to terminate instructors yet he is apparently unaware that he has no authority to hire or fire anyone. He has absolutely no power but thinks he does. He thinks he is so high and mighty that he has said out of his own mouth that he is higher than an “hourly” worker at CCi. How rude and demeaning is that to hourly employees at CCi? He has been met with a lot of resistance lately because no one gives a damn. We are closing. He is under the impression that he is going to be on his throne and remain an emperor or dictator for the long haul. Telling us if we do not sell then CCi will just change our name and we will still be under CCi. Not! There is a different between a leader and a manager and he is far from a leader bringing in outdated, antiquated 1950’s micromanagement style to any 21st century workplace. I ignore him and do what I want to do because we are closing.

@39165: Read the message. Instructors were not furloughed, but Program Diectors (PD) were. This is about one such PD.

His focus on outreach is awful. I have seen attrition skyrocket since we started harrassing students. I refuse to babysit grown adults that knowingly signed up for school. And I will certainly not be responsible for them dropping. Good riddance!
