Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

Sept. 15th

Will there be layoffs before then, or will it be later. Any thoughts?

Teachers are quite because they really dont know anything. They get the bad news maybe hours before they have to see their students. Believe it or not, most of the teachers are on the students side. They are frequently in conflict with EDMC corporate culture (management) which is usually not operating in the best interest of the students. Because of that, teachers are only informed of important changes on a need to know basis or just before they expect to make an announcement to the students.

There have been layoffs at my school, not sure how many because I am a student. Things seem like the teachers and staff are concerned but not talking. Its kinda funny because I actually see more students on a work program with the college doing the work and the staff not around at all. like the cut their hours back and sent them home and replaced them with students. The store, library, student services, financial aid office etc. Maybe this is the grand plan, have students go to class, then work and then maybe even teach a few classes on the side.

"While we have hurdles and tough decisions ahead, the combination of focus, bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla"

last time West put any variation of the words "tough decision" in an email, 250 people lost their jobs... so yes, there are layoffs coming... id bet right around October start

Is there still going to be layoffs?

I bet it's after. They'll want to make the fall start. My guess is mid-October.

Doubtful. Corporate management moves at a snails pace, it is going to take months for anything to happen. I would say 3 to 6 months before any kind of change announced. I would still look for a new job if I were you.
