Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Change

It is time for change with ECMC. Hopefully the first thing they do is to change the culture that currently prevails. Step one of that is to remove the Divisional $180K+, Regional $150K+, and Campus Presidents $130K+. They need to hire a P&L person to manage a cluster of schools. There is no need for a Campus President or RVPO, DP...really what do they do? Play golf, talk about their lavish life styles, expensive cars, vacations and etc. When they do come to visit campuses they hide in an office somewhere. They often abuse their power and sail by on their titles. Look at the amount of money that could be saved and reinvested in the lower levels that actually service the students. CCi is too top heavy and they should all be removed as their decisions and behaviors is what got us to this point. Refocus on academics! This is the key. CCi has been too focused on Admissions & the Enrollment team to focus on the actual product (education). Admissions reps make more money than teachers, program chairs, and perhaps even Deans. That's crazy! The educators/academics need to have support as they have the lion share of the workload. New curriculum, better pay, more faculty training, professional development for academic staff, and more support.

Admissions criteria...are you breathing? Do you have a heartbeat? No problem, you are a new student at Everest!

Can't spell your own name? No problem...we can do that for you!

ANY RESEMBLANCE BETWEEN AN ADMISSIONS REP AND A USED CAR SALESPERSON IS AN INSULT TO THE USED CAR SALESPERSON.

BILL BUCHANAN IS A GREEDY B*D. THIS ALL STARTED TO UNWIND WITH MILWAUKEE. 100% HIS FAULT.

Schools cannot pick and choose the students they enroll. That is dictated by the admissions requirements set forth in the catalog. While most CPs are criticized as being all about revenue due to the enrollments, you should understand that by disallowing a student to enroll for criteria outside of the admission criteria, we would leave ourselves open for discrimination lawsuits. Once the criteria changes, so too will the students admitted.

"Fyi, many admission reps earn over 50k here, including myself. Maybe they pay more for seasoned sales reps/college grads "

Bwahahahahahaha....the ONLY reason enrollment has made what they make is the profit motive. That is now gone, and so is the pressure to "hit numbers." Expect mass layoffs of admissions reps along with a right- sizing of pay.

Just wow! Where did you get this salary information? Totally inaccurate...any admissions rep that says they make more than 35k is a liar. Cci spent the last few years riff'ing the higher paid ones. Division and RVPs make way more than that. There are a few people in upper management that can help rid the toxic culture that is prevelent. My guess is if you are not ready to get with the new culture, you are gone.

ECMC doesn't sound like the kind of company who will "do the right thing." Do some research on them (Camden Kid provided an article link in his post earlier today).

There is no way for those students to be successful given their situations no matter how much support they receive. Homeless, no internet, no computer, pregnant with 4 other kids as a single mom, a long-term medical condition that you can't pay for and are welfare, etc...the list goes on and on.

Whenever this came up in faculty meetings it was always dismissed with "We have open enrollment and have no way to filter out the students during admissions." Complete bullshit.

I really wish the "sweatshop" poster would study this and learn how to make a coherent argument. Our academic colleagues at CCi are often not treated as well as they should be, but then again a lot of them don't communicate very well. I would imagine that the difference in the classroom experience between 49919 and 49896 (the sweatshop rant OP) would be significant.

The admissions practices need a major revamp. Much of the leadership are corrupt and only care about $$$ seen. They don't make the right call for students. They don't look at them as human beings. Academics folks are the ones who try to hold the pieces of these student lives together and they're not given the support or accolades for it. Why would someone enroll a students that has an SLE score of 2, or homeless, or 8 months pregnant, or has no transportation, or a combination of all of these things then offer them no support. If you have these practices at least offer tutoring until the SLE score improves before enrolling, help them with general employment but don't promise them bus passes and access to food pantry stocked up by donations from faculty.
