Why is it that some people's immediate reaction is to pounce on people that express a differing opinion or view, or ask what they would consider to be a "stupid" question?

967: My post had nothing to do with you personally, so you really proved MY point. Try taking the time to read a post before responding, and stop being so oversensitive.
777 - we love you
923 - I would like to thank you for helping me prove my point. Your post is exactly what I was referring to. I post a legitimate question and your first impulse is to insult me and personally attack my level of intelligence. Are you really that unhappy that you feel you have to tear others down and belittle them just to make yourself feel better?
Unfortunately, most people toady have forgotten that our country was founded on the idea of "free speech." This type of website is about as close as you can get to being able to say whatever you want. However, instead of engaging others with differing opinions and/or views on issues, most of the people here decide to attack the poster personally, rather than offering to seek understanding. These folks stubbornly hold that their point of view is correct, but probably don't have the still, desire, or ability to engage in free and civil debate.
923: In all seriousness, most of our employees are literate. The really stupid questions seem to be from "guy in Mom's basement" types who are either just straight-up trolls, or who seem to believe they can get "inside" info and become successful investors through what still amounts to trolling. They usually give themselves away because they don't understand our industry or company at even a basic level, but try to sound legit by parroting terms and place names they've seen here. It usually amounts to a nonsensical statement or question, and really is an annoying waste of our times. They should troll the other losers -- those guys have nothing better to do either.
You, know, sometimes what SOUNDS like a stupid question REALLY IS a stupid question. It's kind of annoying to work for a college (cough! cough!) and read some of the idiotic posts that are sometimes on this site. If you don't have at least a 10th grade level of English literacy and comprehensive ability, you should really be posting on the McDonald's layoff board. It sounds harsh, but you never should have been hired by a "college", even one of CCI's. It's important to be civil, but it's also extremely rude to waste people's time due to your laziness and ignorance.
Hey all, be nice to our Special Snowflake.
LMAO 803 you nailed it!!!
806 - I am the OP and I want to tell you that your post is awesome. Very creative! Something happened when I submitted my original post to where it duplicated itself three times, completely unintentional. As soon as I saw what happened I knew I would get blasted for it, but oh well shit happens. I really like your "special snowflake" line, I may have to borrow that. You're very funny!
Hey OP, do not listen to other posters, keep the chin up. Listen to me: you are a special snowflake and do not get upset when other criticize you, they do not get the 'special' thing... No worries about posting the same thing a dozen times, you will eventually learn better...
Let's put it this way. Accidentally re-posting once could be a mistake. Re-posting twice means you're not very bright, drunk or perhaps high. But re-posting 3 times means you went full retard. Everybody knows you never go full retard.
OP you are an idiot! Go ahead and waste your day reposting.. Still you are showing that you do not have two brain cells to rub together
Stop embarrassing yourself OP. Jesus H....
I say grow up. Just grow up. Should I post this 80 times?!?!
Lots of anonymous internet tough guys who post things they could never say in person.
787 & 788, thank you both for proving my point! By the way, if you look a little further down I stated that the re-post was an accident and to disregard the duplicate posts.
Piss off, dumbass
STOP POSTING THE SAME DAMN THING OVER AND OVER YOU MORON.
I think the level of personal and professional life disruption can be misguided. People are angry and resentful in their own skin. It's no different than a kid that's come home after a bad day and bites your head off. There is a lot of immaturity on this board, and a bit of dysfunctional entertainment. I wouldn't look here for too deep of conversation or debate. Good luck.
Sorry for re-post, disregard
