I received my offer letter last Thursday, (from another company) you all can do something about this situation too.
the term contingent is code for "we need you to stay for a bit even though we are not sure we want you". Like 999 said, offers made before finalization of the pending, unfinished, smelly deal is bullshit. Or pigshit, sheepshit, goatshit or chickenshit - depends on where you work.
999 is correct with one exception. Any employer can make a contingent offer. As an example, most offers of employment are "contingent" on passing a drug screen and/or background check. I'm not saying that this is what is being done in ECMC's case. However, ECMC could make any offer to a CCi employee contingent on the sale going through.

Agreed upon in principle means nothing. As 999 stated, the deal has not yet gone through so don't count those chickens quite yet.
How can Hawn send offer letters if the deal to buy CCi hasn't been finalized? Is a mid December "all parties" signoff date realistic? Even with all the Drinker Biddle attorneys and their shady connections working on it, I don't think so. Anything sent to employees before consummation of the smelly deal (unless it is an announcement that the deal won't go down) should be considered BS
