....Diploma-Denial Mills

...."gives for-profit colleges every incentive to deny degrees to reach the standard. Diploma mills could become diploma-denial mills, shuttling students in and out of the college without a degree, and continuing to profit from taxpayer largesse. As long as they work to limit the debt of the graduates, they’d have nothing to fear. Education policy analyst Barmak Nassirian told Politico that the rule would let for-profit colleges “defraud students with impunity, so long as they make sure they don’t graduate.” - See more at: http://www.thefiscaltimes.com/Columns/2014/10/31/How-Really-Fix-Our-Student-Debt-Crisis#sthash.T6tEz9t2.dpuf

At some point in the near future, the definition of accountability and culpability will be understood in the same way by senior leadership and prosecutors. Jack and his goons including Carmella and Tina won't have an argument that plausibly defends delaying graduation to boost revenue OR handing out diplomas to students who are unemployable. But a few goons have a grudge here and there. They know the truth and will be shown the incentive to squeal. Let the depositions begin!

I can see our senior execs in a fourth floor conference room discussing the new Gainful Employment rule, and deciding on a course of action(milk the funds then fail them before they graduate) that sounds exactly like what his article forecasts. Of course, there will be no written notes form the meeting.....and any negative repercussions will be foisted upon the instructors.

My sentiments exactly, with one caveat: I don't think the students understand debt, interest, bankruptcy, or default. Mostly because they don't have the reading skills to comprehend what they sign!

Again with the victim students? They like the stipends and have no intention of repaying loans anyway. It's a win win for everyone but us taxpayers.
