Thread regarding Baker Hughes Inc. layoffs

So what is everyones guesses on locations and departments laid off first? I would suspect Permian Basin drilling and pressure pumping.

"But in terms of some of the other ones such as artificial lift and chemicals, make up a significant part of our North American portfolio. I fully expect those to be not fully insulated but more insulated if you will. On a geographic basis, Gulf of Mexico would be the least -- the last to be affected but some of the other higher cost basins like the Bakken, the Mississippi Chat and even the Permian are starting to see pressure, Jud."

Is this the part of the conference call you were referring? If I'm reading it right, it says GOM will get hit first, not Permian. As we all know, though, it could hit anywhere and at any time. I am under no illusions that Permian will be exempt from layoffs. Best to be prepared for whatever happens. Good luck to all.

Not an assumption at all as it was stated in the 4th quarter conference call on Wednesday morning.

Why Permian Basin specifically? It has slowed down here some, but we still have rigs and we're still doing frac jobs. Care to elaborate on your assumption? Everyone is at risk of losing jobs right now.

It was stated that Pressure Pumping would be hit the hardest and that R&D/Technology would have minimal changes.
