Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Another lie not to believe

SLB tells laid off employees that insurance benefits end the day of termination. In fact if you call the SLB-BENS line they will tell you the same thing. This is not true. The premiums are not pro-rated daily! I used insurance to pay for a prescription and a doctor's visit several days after I was laid off (in the same month) and the insurance paid it without blinking. Lesson learned - just because HR or a manager tells you something, don't take it as gospel. Even Big Blue will lie!

Hi my husband was recently laid off from slb. He hasn't received his severance package yet and it has been nearly 3 weeks. Did you experience this same thing?? Thank for the help.

I think there is a COBRA law that says your insurance must go on for 18 months, with you still paying the premium. They can't cancel it.

Are you sure your insurance paid? You might get a bill later. It happened to a friend of mine she thought they insurance paid and they did but then later they found out that her insurance had actually been terminated by the day of her appointment so they took their money back and she had to foot the bill for the appointment.

I think in theory it does end but there is a time period until your medical supplier and insurer becomes aware - that's what happened probably
