To ensure merchandise hits shelves in time for two big back-to-campus selling seasons, Follett needed more efficient methods to plan, order and place merchandise across 890 bookstores. After implementing Manhattan's Planning solutions, Follett was able to reduce product planning and placement time by six weeks and projects a 1% increase in sales and a 2% decrease in inventory.

Please do yourselves a favor and find other jobs. They are out there. The ridiculousness with follett will never end, I'm afraid. Please stop waiting for them to make sensible decisions that apply to the needed business structure. You are simply holding yourselves in positions of un-fulfillment and frustration. It's not good for your health, or your lives to constantly be befuddled trying to run a functional business with dysfunctional decision makers. Find something else for yourself and move on! You can do it!!
This project has come no where close to delivering a financial return.
The article this was taken from was from an interview with Follett personnel - and can easily be found on by Googling "manhattan planning, follett". You can find a similar glowing review for Retalon -by googling "retalon, follett".
Both articles appear to be from 2013 and are publicly available on the web.
Read and learn. One even has a video.
Why was this product implemented? Next on the hit list, product information management.
Manhattan is selling snake oil, the project cost way too much and there are no reasonably measured benefits. Do not trust the pitch they are selling
