Thread regarding Follett layoffs

First no severence, then no unemployment, but there's more...

I had an offer pending, recruiter working out details... offer disappears. Company won't even respond to my email or take my call. Recruiter not taking calls either (recently discovered Follett is a client of the recruitig firm - and also works closesly with Sears).

Maybe this isn't happening to everyone who got pushed out, but in my case, that's exactly what happened. over 14 years at Follett, many accomplishments, wonderful team, excellent reviews, and now they are interfering with me working anywhere else. Thanks Teflon.

New director in MMS. Employees are numbers that can be swapped with little impact to the company.

Business 101: Gloat when your ex-employer is made to look like a fool and you have the unemployment claim in the bag:

When you have a bunch of psychotic bullies running a company that use their positions to threaten your livelihood, your job that you need to feed your family you’ve got a problem. One can accept business decisions but this is just a bunch of loonies using their positions to bully associates and blaming their stupidity on others. They are full of shit and they blame you for their stupidity. Business 101. Do not swear at your boss in public. Business 101. Do not put psychotic bullies in charge of your company and expect your company to succeed. CT and CF, you must be ashamed of what your company has become. How do you live with yourselves?

Business 101. Do not swear at your boss in public. Pretty simple stuff huh! Do something stupid and you will reap the rewards. And after you do, lets whine about how you are treated unfairly.

I was fired too for "misconduct". It's funny how they didn't prove their case the first time and appealed the decision. News flash: THERE WAS NO MISCONDUCT! Try again.

I disagree. The chosen few will get ahead.

This is a classic example of the manager attempting to protect her team from outsourcing and disagreeing with management. She is no longer with the company (if not that reason they would have found another). My advice to employees still at Follett. Work your day, then go home to your family or other interests. This isn't a career were working hard will get you ahead. This is a job plain an simple. You will get your paycheck if you work 8 hours or 12 hours, taking on stress or doing what is asked.

I was fired for misconduct yet the company can prove it. To an earlier point, the person who fired me was/is very unethical and broke policy as outlined in code of conduct. They are in fact full of shit! They are constantly digging holes for themselves.

Yeah, but, they are in positions to use it against us. Abuse of power. Not sure if "full of sh*t" was verbal or written, but, if you admitted to this event leading up to your termination, it's misconduct. We KNOW what they are doing is wrong, but have to be able to prove it. Did you appeal the unemployment decision?

This leadership shows misconduct on a daily basis.

Are you the one who sweared at her boss? If so, that is definitely grounds for termination.

6 weeks after an outstanding review, 14+ years of above average-outstanding reviews. What "cause" would there be to not give someone severance or unemployment or a reference? Sounds kinda personal to me.

With no severance and no unemployment were you termed for cause? And expect a reference?

They are also fishing by contacting current employers to verify employment only to see if your linked in update is true, or they are in disbelief you moved on so quickly. Nosey and obsessive. My current employer informed me of this today.

When moving on means you have to change careers, in your 50s because you have no company reference for the past 14 years, despite consistently excellent reviews....maybe you won't be so quick to 'move on'. Of course, maybe you're lucky enough to work for someone who won't stab you in the back, and then try to blame you for the knife in your back.

If that is the case, the employer would not intentionally target individuals. We can all move on, if the employer so chooses. Otherwise, they add fuel to the fire. Now run and tell those lies!

It is bad and reveals the low character and immoral principles this new leadership has embraced. Sustainability is not a product of such actions since it is self serving motives not offerring benefits either to customers or current employeess. The damage done in the wake of their actions is not reverisible.
