Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

No loyalty

I sat through numerous sessions over the years where I listened to Segment Presidents, VP's, other upper managers, and even the CEO bitch and moan about retention and how certain demographics jump ship for more money or other reasons. Yet there is no loyalty from the company side. The employees who make the sacrifices and give up family time to meet a business need - they're shareholders too. These upper level managers need to stfu about retention given they have demonstrated yet again there is no loyalty. Just watch - a few months down the road they will be whining about retention again and struggling to hire enough people.

I found many of the management teams were quite weak lacking leadership and people skills - lots of telling people what to do and no coaching -

Unfortunately, "a few months down the road", they will still be laying off even larger numbers than so far. This will get much worse before it is over for this "cycle".

You are absolutely correct. You and the post above yours which talks about the total lack of any loyalty by SLB to their employees. really speak to the biggest problem that will continue to reduce their value to clients, shareholders and employees. I have seen this get much worse under Paal Kibsgaard. He is the worst CEO SLB has ever has.
