@Anonymous57608, you heavily underestimate Apollo Group. Strong predators don't fall that easily. Apollo Group has a more diverse group of investors than Corinthian Colleges or Education Management Corporation. These investors include Boston Partners, State Street Corporation, Wells Fargo bank, BlackRock, and Bank of New York Mellon. They also have key political operatives such as Jane Oates, Margaret Spellings, and Al Sharpton. And they have paid off the right people to keep the Title IV cash flowing in. What could take Apollo Group down is if several principled people COLLECTIVELY blow the whistle on University of Phoenix's business and education practices. And that would not be easy. Whistleblowers have won against Apollo Group before, but it didn't kill the corporation.........https://www.opensecrets.org/lobby/clientsum.php?id=D000021846........... https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/summary.php?id=D000021846
This school keeps falling and will likely keep falling all of 2015. This junk stock will trade at less than $20 by summer 2015. More layoffs are coming.
@Anonymous57195, I agree that Apollo Group is a predatory (and perhaps criminal) operation. But what information do you have to back up your predictions?
survive in the U. S. market because there are too many competitors among state CCs. Yes, they will survive for their international push, but they will have fewer than 100K students by 2018. Most campuses will close by this time as well. They are a discredited online fraud school and the word is spreading.
@Anonymous57173, a loss of 2.5% is inconsequential. Apollo Group and University of Phoenix have many business and political connections (e.g.
Sally Stroup (Bush Administration), Jane Oates (Obama Administration), House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, civil rights leader and MSNBC personality Al Sharpton)and will likely continue operations for some time
They have also been branching out internationally, to Latin America, Australia, and the UK. The only thing that will take down or reform this enterprise is to start a movement by students, alumni, and teachers.
