Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Verizon Bands - What do they mean?

Having a lot of trouble getting any detail from management in Verizon Connect on understanding how some Verizon HR career band stuff works.
Could someone share what does the letter mean as a part of a job band?

  1. g.

6-C
7-D
7-V
8-E

@bfji+17MwzVhZ You are misinformed. There are no 8T/9T bands under the MANAGEMENT pay structures. They may very well be bands under the ASSOCIATE structures, but this thread specifically asked about the management bands. 8V and 9V and the lowest management bands and they are non-exempt. They might be expressed as hourly to the employee due to the eligibility of paid OT, but they are salaried jobs.

Amazing to me the childishness of the people employed by this company. Name calling, really?

@9qyp+17MwzVhZ so now you're saying you know more than HR? HR made the announcement. Go sit somewhere clown. And yes there are 8T and 9T too. They are paid hourly. Go get informed.

There is no band 8T or 9T. Bands 8V and 9V are both non-exempt. Both are paid under the management compensation plans. And there are by far more band 7s than 6s.

V vs. T = V means that you are salaried and not eligible for overtime and T means you're paid by the hour and also paid overtime beyond your 40 hours

Band 5V is for Dir and Ex. Dir
Band 6V is for Manager, Sr. Manager, PMTS, DMTS, SMTS, and Assoc. Director
Band 7V is for Specialist, Supervisor, Consultant, and 1st level managers and Sr. Anaylst is a 7T
Band 8T is for an Analyst and there are other postions with the wireless division that fall under this band. They are not considered management
9V and 9T are also not considered management and is used in wireless division

The largest group in the company is 6V which was revealed when the company offered the package and announced during package annoucements.

Hope this breakdown helps

Can band 7 be non-exempt (get overtime pay)? I know band 8 is usually non-exempt.

6-C - Like CEO and VP and $$$$$$
7-D - Directors so $100 K or so mostly
7-V - Managers $70 or so and they get 12% on STI
8-E - Workers and some managers but like $40K to 60K

6V–great
7V–not bad at all
7T–not bad
8V– better
9V—not much

there is so much intersecting between all of them. there used to be a chart, but its gone.

@1asx is correct. Pay ranges are attached to jobcodes (which are assigned a band) and geographic area. STI Short Term Incentive target @ 100% is tied to bands.

Pay ranges are not attached to bands. They are attached to jobcodes (which are assigned a band) and geographic area.

Now more importantly, what pay range is attached to those bands?

Exempt employees, are not entitled to overtime pay as guaranteed by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

A non-exempt employee is entitled to overtime pay through the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Most states have their own wage and hourly-rate laws that have even more requirements in addition to the FLSA.

Not sure where you are seeing letters.
Current bands below director are
6V
7V
7T
8V
9V
with the first two being exempt and the last three non-exempt.
There used to be lettered bands (C, D, E) on the Wireless side years ago.
