Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Why are you still working hard?

Many know that hard work here means nothing anymore, but they still do their best. Why is that? I have a friend who was one of the best employees this company's had and guess what? This company decided they didn't need him.

@1bka+1eJANocq Being priggish and sanctimonious is the fault of the unvaccinated.

You must be a hoot to work with. and you throw your colleagues under the bus, that's why you're still around. Happy New Year, Karen!

My feeling is that I work hard to get the job done for things I’m responsible for but I will never volunteer for any other project and I never go looking for extra work as my colleague does. If I have nothing much to do I am happy.

People have been conditioned since preschool to do their best for just a sticker or a cookie. You think after 40 years it’s just going to turn on a dime.

It’s fighting against your instincts at this point. For those who work hard to have to slow down is crazy hard.

If you are a “hard worker” who finds extra things to do when it’s slow, next time that happens try to not find extra work. I bet it’s super difficult for you. I know it was for me at first.

But I’m working hard at not working

Because some people can't imagine working any other way, regardless of rewards or whether management appears to appreciate it. At the end of their careers, they can look back and know that they gave their best effort--to the work and for themselves. Some cynics may say that they're fools but these are the colleagues that I always admired most (and I still think that, even though I'm one of the employees that the company decided it didn't need).
