Shortstaffed teams

We desperately need more people. If we stay shortstaffed for a while, that is, if I have to continue to work for two or three people for a long time, I will not hesitate much whether to quit or not. How many people are missing from your team?

My team was 8 at this time last year. In 11 months, the change is +1/-7 (including me as of last week), for a total of 2 FTE now. It's extremely bad.

Customers are already complaining about the deteriorating products. How does this help?

I had one department head tell our group “we have enough people”. Not in regards to our group but in regards to business unit they manage. That was after the individual talked about “it falls on me to have to make decisions on reductions”. Keep in mind this statement came on the heels of several departures.

You can’t have it both ways.

I know of about 5-10 open spots

Down 2 to a head count of 8.

It has been hard to accept how much the company culture has changed, but this is the new normal. For a culture that values the worker, one will have to look elsewhere.

If you remain and do the work of 2-3 people because the roles are not being filled for whatever reason (freeze, low ball salary offers), the "managers" above you will say that more people aren't needed. If the manager is rewarded by cutting or reducing headcount, the role won't be filled.

If you're in a high-wage location, they don't want you anyway.

If you're in a lower-wage destination, remember the CR location. They'll always look for cheaper.

If you're in the lowest-wage location, they don't pay you to be loyal. Your job exists because they can pay you a lot less than what they'd normally pay. So, take what you can and keep your options open because your next pay raise is around the corner or down the street.

They’re not hiring so you might as well find another job. Even if they can hire, no one is taking the low TR offers.

Down to 2 from 10, or down 2 with a full staff of 10, meaning there's 8 in yr team now?

That's the c-lt of McK's plan though. Break you and submit to them.

And the job market is hot. So many more roles will be vacated.

Down 2, fully staffed at 10. Hiring freeze. Maybe McKinsey will suggest opi--ds in order to cope.
