Chevron Finance Mid-Career

Is it difficult to join Chevron Finance mid-career as a Financial Analyst? I understand the propensity to hire from within. Not sure if an MBA could help get foot in the door. Thank you.

Do you agree that Chevron is very selective in the finance/accounting positions? They don't hire too many people, and the people they hire within the finance/accounting seem to stay there for YEARS, I've seen most finance/accounting people stay there for 10+ years.

It's either very selective or very competitive process to get into, because I don't see many hires.. and many people seem to stay in the finance/accounting role for 10+ years

In certain specialties--- e.g. Tax; mid-career hire is not unusual. For general Finance positions---- far more the exception than the rule.

Chevron is slowly moving away from "womb to the tomb" hiring expectation and hiring mid-career, experienced people

Honestly if you in finance mid-career with MBA.. you have many other options to consider such as big tech.. but if you really want to be in the oil and gas industry, just try applying to see what you get.. but you have more job security and more options in other industries.

It depends on what level of a financial analyst you come on as, you don't want to do be doing entry-level financial analyst work (nothing wrong with that) but you are in mid-career and should be aiming for high 6 figure pay $150k-200k.. guessing you have 5-10 years of experience and a MBA along with a CFA or any other certification.

finance are pretty routine and process oriented in CVX
dun expect much attention for your work unless you are placed on special projects

Outsiders are outsiders for a while. After a few years they are usually good but at first it can be kind of hard

Also this company is in a big work push right now so unless your a female or black this company does not want you. Yes those are the only people who fit in our D&I plan. It’s messed up that all Theo others are basically forgotten about

Agree with prior responder.
A place like this marks an 'experienced hire' with a red necktie.
First cut.
