D9 Bargaining - Strike Relief, Assistance and Work Stoppage

April 6, 2024 is the D9 wireline, contact expiration.

Union members: The striker’s certification for relief funds and application for assistance forms are available to download from your local or another local’s website. Fill them out and give them to your steward or picket line captain.

Closer now to a work stoppage since the company keeps offering regressive proposals and denying or not addressing any of the union’s bargaining proposals. Get your affairs in order and be ready to walk. Won’t be long now so, be ready when asked to reach out to your local politicians and news organizations. The CWA will be in contact with national politicians, candidates and news organizations.

Contingency Team: Need to get ready and in place for your assigned duties. Need to take care of the customers and maintenance needs until, an agreement is reached and the bargained workforce returns.

Good luck to all and a fair contract!

Difference with communications is that it is a national critical infrastructure, that is regulated. A lot of govt. agencies, military emergency services and 911 are involved. Anyone remember the small outage that just happened and that was a semi-controlled issue. What happens when you lose 15k skilled employees suddenly for any length of time. Yes, mobility is directly affected by any major wireline issues too.

Previous post is incorrect, the company changed the labor team immediately during the 2019 SE, D3 negotiations. It was only lasted 3 days, for the company acting in bad faith strike by the union. TA followed shortly there after and was ratified by the union members. Get ready for the heat, the President’s team is watching.

T doesn't mind the occasional strike. They save way more money with stopped paychecks than they lose on potential profit losses.

“ Union employees talk tough until they are out for a week. If you’re so committed, stay out until you get what you want. But you won’t…….all talk no action.”

Obviously you haven’t read the news of all the lengthy strikes that have happened recently, yet again, another uninformed company troll. Now we know why the company has been struggling, it’s sycophants like that in charge.

Tick Tock, 21 days till stoppage. Per the previous post, Let’s increase the work output, with the “trained” contingency force, let’s see how that works out for them.

Condensed list to meet metrics for outside I/R forces, don’t miss any or it’s a write-up:

  1. Off the yard in 15 mins.
  2. Call ahead to customer
  3. Drive straight to first dispatch, no deviations on the way
  4. Park safely and put out traffic controls, cones, chocks and signs as appropriate
  5. Wear your PPE including your reflective vest
  6. Knock on door and discuss with Customer what you are doing
  7. Complete the install or repair including, climbing poles, in attics, under house, side of house to plc drop, NID. Drive to the SAI to take measurements to find and repair troubles or place jumper. May need to locate and dig or open manholes to repair damage or wet. Don’t forget your torch for lead and opening/closing xaga closures.
  8. Activate account with the customer and do a Wi-Fi assessment then, upload results
  9. Talk with the customer and ask them if they have any questions or concerns
  10. Advise them about survey and per manager, guide them how to respond so you won’t get a bad survey by them pushing the wrong button
  11. Leave them your name and number.
  12. Close your job, you need to have completed the ticket in 1.45 HPD or less to meet bonus metrics for your manager. Very important or you will be harassed.
  13. Dispatch on next task, rinse and repeat.
  14. Don’t forget to read the multiple e-mails, text and listen to your VM.
  15. Complete any training due
  16. Must complete your daily work list and may be forced after 3pm
  17. Very important to not return any jobs unless your manager approves it, rare. It affects your and his DE (dispatch efficiency) metric, another bonus number.

A lot of details left out for clarity. Good luck, see you when the contract is signed.

“Are we talking about the same people who get a new company iPhone or laptop and flap in the wind if their isn’t a step by step set of instructions walking them through the process? Duh……what do I do?”

Some union techs are better with ladders than they are laptops and that’s not a bad thing.

Forms downloaded and filled out, will be turning them in to my job steward on Monday. Thanks for posting the information, hopefully it doesn’t come to a stoppage but my group is prepared for a prolonged strike if needed.

Concerned for our customers and company growth while we are out but we can’t keep taking regressive steps. The company has been exceeding its financial guidance and gave bonuses of 122% to the managers. We have earned our fair share too and deserve a fair contract with decent raises since we barely get any, to no bonus after being tied to the stock price when SBC took over.

Wow! Many company trolls on here posting so much misinformation about bargained employees. Anyone with a shred of logic understands that marketing, selling, installing, maintaining, admin and customer service doesn’t just happen, it takes a skilled workforce. Job req’s are still being posted and there are openings for various positions, for both internal and external hires.

Get the facts, a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

I've noticed a few in contingency training are from a certain indian country. Using H1bs to replace union workers has to be a breach of the visa.

Core technicians in my area haven’t had work in over 3yrs. They have to get out of the garage by 8am, but sit in their trucks in CO parking lots all day. What does that tell ya?

You will need not to care much longer. RTO will remove those that complain about "Who cares, bye bye, overpaid underworkedAT&T".
AT&T is finally cleaning house. That is a good thing. You will be gone soon. It is no fault of the Union.
Hey, if you have some toys/vehicles, boats you need to sell, post it up.

Will probably be a last day, strike of midnight TA. The company doesn’t need to have the negative attention in the middle of refocusing on the network, decommissioning legacy systems, growing mobility, fiber, FCF, dividends and share price. It’s also a general election year and both candidates are pro US workers.
