Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Severe anxiety going back to work next week

Dreading having to deal with my LL6 and “team”. I’ve never worked at a place so toxic and demoralizing

  • Moral in this company is in the sh-t hole
  • No one I’ve spoken to sees a future here or is remotely excited. Everyone is quietly interviewing outside it seems.

Suggest you contact your doctor regarding antidepressants and/or antianxietyolytics. With enough meds on board perhaps you will not notice how you feel.🫂😱

They targeted people over 50 with pensions. And to make it seem "fair", they axed a bunch of us over-50s who did NOT have pensions. And then they axed a bunch of younger folks too so it wouldn't LOOK like they were getting rid of pensioners.

To 5yyz....

I was in same boat. Almost 30 yrs and 55. Didn't intend on leaving, but didn't get to make my own decision. I have other employment but would be interested to know ( if you care to share) what have you found since leaving? Given our age, I think we may have more limited options and while I did find something it's not a great fit, so just curious what you and others in a similar situation may have found. Thank you.

I hope you decide to seek other employment. I lived with multiple job cuts through the almost thirty years I worked there. I was shown the door Jun 2023. I had 29 years and over 55. I received my pension, 9 months pay, my 5 weeks vacation pay and benefits for 9 months.
I suffered and worried the last 10 years that I would be cut. I always had Top Achiever for every review but could see the shift to Mexico and India and knew my job could be outsourced. It was a relief to get that package even though I would have preferred to keep working. The weight off my shoulders and choices of my new career path is awesome!

@1dvx

You are damn right it's going to be a defining year. Defined by how well Ford gets back to actually selling cars that people want to buy and getting prices back to 2019-2020 levels. So yeah..this will be a make or break year for Ford. If things get any worse for recalls, quality, customer relations, then it might take until 2025, 2026 before you see a bankruptcy...they need to get some measure of "better" for there to be a future for the business. Either way as they scale back EV (not that anyone wants the ones they make) Tesla scoops up that market share. People buy Tesla plain and simple. It's not that people don;t want EV's...they just don't want what Ford is selling. That should be apparent.

If you are a good employee, go somewhere else. If you aren’t, the. Shut up and be thankful someone pays you more than you are worth.

@1afg is spot on. Demoralization is effective if the goal is to control an individual or a group.

Looking forward to 2024 and continuation of our plan. Stop looking at it in a negative way when we have so many new products and services to launch and bring to our customers this year. It will be a defining year.

After 20 some years, this story is not new. So many people I know describe a PTSD type of feeling this time of year as the clock ticks down to return. This is not new and you are not alone. This feeling is not just fir GSR, It is felt at all levels because this is how the Ford family runs their businesses- bases on te---r. Plain and simple they want to te--orize and paralyze their employees as a means of control. Employees need to see this sick tactic for what it is. We are NOT a part of 'the family' we are drones that they now want to replace with low cost country employees.

Whenever I feel like this I go online and read the news. Things aren’t so bad in your life, you’ll realize that you’re actually quite blessed. Best to you.

I suggest you ask a lawyer, consider using ADA accommodations, intermittent FMLA to be more proactive about your anxiety,

also consider long term disability if necessary.

of course, wiretap everything with proper paper trail, and don't hesitate to sue in case of retaliations.

The employees that will be safe are the ones tight with management and ridicule the worried.
