Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

What kind of attorney roles exist at the Pittsburgh office?

Anyone know what types of jobs there are for attorneys at the PGH office and if so what lines of business etc.?

Care to rewrite that cogently? It’s unintelligible as it stands.

I can’t say too much about this as I’ve negotiated rings around them twice, including walking when the deal wasn’t right knowing full well that they’d come back begging to buy, and I’m not a lawyer, I simply did my research and determined my bottom lines.

These corporate lawyers are really bureaucrats. They work in reviewing purchasing contracts and also get involved in high priced individual engagements. Overall they’re not really a very strong group.

BNY hires law school grads on the cheap to work in the compliance group. Not sure you even need to pass the bar.

Every new hire is just about every group is an attorney.

Very few roles still exist in the Pittsburgh legal department. A few paralegals and maybe a couple of attorneys. Most of the work is farmed out to external firms.
