@ 3nzf Step away from the koolaid pitcher. There is no such thing as “mobility buying public.” People buy vehicles, airplane, train and bus tickets, and taxi and Lyft rides, but NOBODY BUYS “MOBILITY.”

If Ford is actually selling “mobility,” what is the sticker price and where is it listed on the monthly sales report? They aren’t even putting subscriptions on the sales report, because it would be embarrassing.

DF's leadership style and background meshes well with Ford. Obviously that's why BF chose him to join the company and lead its most crucial areas of Ford. The successes are starting already and will grow exponentially once the gen2 Model e products hit the mobility buying public.

I'm predicting the next Town Hall will be exceptional, so don't miss it.

DF left Tesla after taking a personal leave. He basically ghosted Elon. If he didn't get along with Elon, fine, be a real leader and leave on respectful terms. Ghosting out is weak.

are you sure DF was successful at prior employers? Or did he jump ship when advised he was not performing? Suggest you talk with actual worker bees at prior employers before making assumptions and glorifying DF. Whole lot of blow not much go seems to be the report card from the worker bees.

Doug Field worked for both Apple and Tesla in leadership ranks.

Look at their success levels as a company.

I'm not saying DF takes all that credit, but some credit is deserved. He is at Ford now in case you were unaware.

Yes we have all seen the BS presentations claiming things like he transformed XYZ but when you scratch the surface and see what was really done it all amounts to t-rd buffing and false accomplishments. One bullet point presented with much fan fair was at the bottom line just a reorg of some teams which had zero change to the product, same people same cr-ppy output.

Every DF presentation leaves one wondering the following:

  • does he think we are all d-mb enough to believe this?
  • is he d-mb enough to believe this?
  • who in Ford leadership fed him this BS?
  • who in Ford leadership actually believes this?

Oh gosh I forgot no questions or critical thinking allowed at Ford, just clapping and back slapping. High five @1wie+1pYiPBbL

@OP+1pYiPBbL Mostly what you say is true. I’ll refine that to secure A players hire people better than themselves. There are some super talented and intelligent people who HAVE to be the smartest guy in the room. Those types repel the secure A players and even the B players.
College buddies who have worked with Jobs or more recently Musk say Yeah they could be supreme jerks but once they settled down and listened they could discern who was a gasbag and who was contributing and then engage in intelligent dialogs with the non-bozos. AM was the last true A player at Ford in any LL5+ role. There were some A players in the non-supervisory LL6 roles, but those were all either laid off or have quit. And all of the A players who left Ford have done very well since leaving Ford

What is people's problem here with Doug Field. Has has reshaped and redirected the company precisely where it needs to go for future growth. Model e has brought tremendous positive visibility to the business which you cannot put a price tag on.

Ford is keen on hiring outside for exec positions, but nearly all of them leave after a short time. I don't know what the advantage is for Ford in this.

Recall that a couple of years ago, DF himself mandated that he personally approve any new hires. And he also told all hiring managers that anyone they wanted to hire or move into their department had to make the team better- they had to prove it. Well, we can see how well that has worked.
