Question for Managers

Hi Managers,, did anyone ask you to make a list of people who might get laid off soon? My colleague mentioned it, and I'm just trying to see if it's true. I don't think it'll happen before July, but I thought I'd ask around to be sure.

I was asked to stack rank and depending on the number of people to let go, you work from the bottom up.

No, but our leadership had a list of people most likely to leave. Damage control is in full force. We are still losing people.

Like every other policy, it depends on the LOB and the situation.

I was asked to provide a name to my director, as was each of the other managers reporting to him. I was then chosen to lay off my employee.

There is either erroneous or inconsistent information here. The “never asks for input” is not true (at-least not for all lines of business) unless I have been lied to by my management detailing that they have been asked for a name(s). It may not be a 1:1 situation where names provided are absolutely let go however.

Manager here, and no, no one ever asked me. Just gave me the talking points and told me when to deliver them etc.

no one is going to answer this honestly, as that might give the impression that these things are done with input from managers, which is the opposite of what the company line has been... at least until now...
