It's all just temp employment now. The concept of a career or long-term employment are obsolete; adjust your level of effort accordingly and hit the corporate huckster below the belt.

Honeywell probably saved enough from Pension cuts and freezing of benefits to self fund the remaining liabilities.

Pensions are the one of the best examples of companies ACTUALLY caring for its employees. Pensions were a defined payout plan that people could count on during their golden years. This money was paid out as a salary of sorts despite the employee no longer working for the company. Providing pensions did not help the company's bottom line yet they did it anyway...

The bootlicker or stooge who hopes to garner a career kowtowing to the type of garbage that leads VomitWell will pay an immense price for its folly.

No “company” ever cared for an employee. People care for people.
I do remember when the company didn’t openly pine for “AI” to remove even more humanity.
Honeywell would do well to remember that efficiency creates commodity and commodities compete only on price. Does Honeywell think they win on price ?

Yeh, I have also just been openly told by an engineering recruiter that Honeywell on my resume is putting potential employers off.
Apparently we now have a reputation of being the last resort for engineers, what a difference a decade makes!!

I remember..

  • eating lunch cooked by a chef whose name i still remember, on a table cloth, using metal silverware, with my coworkers every day.
  • on fridays my 2nd grader would join me for lunch in the cafeteria
  • i would stop by the bank (3 tellers) and pick up dry cleaning on my way out the plant door.
  • dressing up for a formal banquet with my spouse during engineers week. Dancing and entertainment on the waterfront.
  • watergun fights on the lawn with my department
  • 2015 when they froze my pension cutting my retirement income estimate by 66%.
  • when my company 401k match did not come with hidden asterics (87.5%!) , fine print, or a completely id--tic email saying "once a year match is so much better for you!" From a cfo that was forced to lie in print.
  • the last time i was told by a customer how much better our programs were run than the competition. (2005)
  • i remember when i listed honeywell on my linkedin... on advise by recruiter i do not, preffering to show my side hustle as primary employment.

Look into the Airesearch era and the Secured Benefit Account set up for all employees, and what happened as corporate greed set in, along with other benefits.
