Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Approved exception to RTO?

I was told I could go to HR and ask for a “reasonable accommodation” to get approval to continue working remotely. I have multiple issues related to acute anxiety. Anyone else gotten approval for this?

Yes. I opened a case with HR after speaking to my manager, and they had my Dr. fill out forms. No issues, and I did not have to disclose any diagnosis to my manager or HR.

Honestly, the more I research this issue, companies should just go remote and pour the extra resources into their banking branches or the city themselves.

Yes, I got an exception for anxiety and ADHD, renewed annually. It was incredibly painless (my boss didn’t object and it was maybe 45 minutes of effort)—you just need a doctor form filled out.

I’m sorry that some people are d-mb, petty, and bitter RE: downvotes, etc.

I'm in the same camp. I cannot return to the office without my emotional support pet, who self-identifies as a service dog. I feel entitled to a job and can feel I can make demands against a corporate employer who can replace me at a whim. I want to work at home and pet my emotional support dog!

I'm sorry the OP and folks disclosing medical issues are getting downvoted. Part of what makes ADA navigation so difficult is that non physically visible health issues often get treated as made up. Sometimes the very medical issues you disclose get written into your performance review, so you end up giving free ammunition for folks already inclined to think you're whiny, lazy, stupid, too much (take your pick).

While you can mask your health condition and pass, I think anyone who lives with someone that has panic attacks or neurodivergences they were born with or acquired with things like stroke complications.

I'm sorry that trying to live sustainably in your own body got politicized and that people find it easier to dunk on you as an individual than be slightly inconvenienced.

I'm sorry that in the past few years we had the highest participation of disabled persons in the workforce -ever- with a growth of 5% (also the highest growth percentage ever) ... and all we can do as a society and anonymous posters is ridicule you and play some weird pretend game about who gets to be the deserving and undeserving disabled person.

It appears that some of the call centers may be getting exceptions to policy. The Collections as well as 24 hour banking phone jockeys from portland are remaining wfh

Enlighten me. Genuinely interested in the pre-pandemic and new office location changes, especially those that are a commute of 2 hours one-way.

I'd be pi---d off about that.

How does me moving to a city I don't want to live in or can't afford and sitting in 3 hours of traffic a day to NOT BE AROUND ANY of my teammates - not one - benefit the company exactly? I'll never understand.

@1fms+1sGUWdiv maybe you don’t understand they are relocating many of us from our usual offices we might have been used to pre-Covid but now they have changed their stance and our locations to commute to large cities with this RTO. NO I won’t shut up about it. I too have the right to be upset and flat out angry. This is wrong and yes it is causing extreme anxiety. I for one have not expected my office location to move to a large city where Im now expected to now commute 3+ days a week for a nearly two hours one way. You must have lost your mind if you think your a-s is going to tell me how I should feel.

Meant to add environmental as well.

I think the best argument against RTO is economic and value of time which applies to everyone. Will never understand why they won't settle for 1-2 days or some remote teams who have no coworkers in their office location. Make it make sense.

Lol, really? Everyone has anxiety from RTO?

All this whining is maddening. I feel for those that were working from home prior to the pandemic and for those that were hired under the terms that the position is remote, but the overwhelming majority of staff worked in the office previously.

Bring ya @ss back to the office. You were there pre2020. You can do it again. Stop with the fake anxiety and germophobia excuses.

  1. make sure you are under the care of a physician/therapist 2) self disclose in work day 3) file for reasonable accommodation

It is valid but you have to renew every 90 days.

Majority of people have anxiety now but how unfair that only a few would benefit. They should assume in today’s environment we all are dealing with different levels of anxiety. This RTO is causing many of us unnecessary stress. I can’t fathom going into a large city into a skyscraper because they say this is the right thing to do meanwhile I’m screaming internally and fighting for my life.

Yes. I know several folks who were granted ADA accommodation for various disabilities. Try joining a Disability BRG or one of the support circles. They seem to have a lot of resources and people willing to help.

Let me know how it works. I have panic attacks and social anxiety also so RTO is going to be painful and unproductive. I might need to take a medical leave. Don’t want to sit there not knowing if I am having a panic attack or a heart attack. Only way I was able to tell was to leave office immediately and the panic attack quickly disappeared

Honestly many of us have anxiety and this RTO agenda and when we were told to remove our personal items made my anxiety through the roof but they don’t care. Instead they are setting us up in concentration camps style setting renamed “hubs” germ infested open space to normalize their insanity. What’s next? Gas chambers? Who is in charge here? Hi---r?
