Thread regarding BNSF Railway layoffs

Mechanical dept in shambles

Why in the world would BNSF remove the skilled craft workers from servings the locomotives and replace them with laborers? What do they know about repairing and proper servicing of locomotives? Who’s going to take blame if one fails and causes a derailment? The FRA needs to get involved.

For the same reason they only send laborers and foreman to FRA training anymore, they don’t give a sh-t, it’s simply smoke and mirrors until the next furlough, let’s face it BNSF has been in decline for going on 8 years maybe longer based on metrics but they made Katie Farmer railroader of the year. Only place you can do a bad job at running a billion dollar company based on every metric and get rewarded simply because you su-k di-k well and sometimes have a pu--y in Katie’s case.

If I had a dollar for how many times I heard some dealer service department douche say I’m a real ase mechanic then guck something up 2 minutes later, I wouldn’t need a railroad job, so you can take your Im a real boy Pinocchio a-s sounding sh-t, and shove it right up your a-s while your girl gets banged by a railroader as you are beating it in the closet to the sound of your favorite Taylor swift song. No one really cares what you think or what kind of mechanic you are, the fact you have to tell anyone on here you are ASE certified says you actually su-k at your job and need to list your credentials to feel better about being terrible, cheer up buddy life gets better

I feel this post is full of d-mbasses that no longer work for the railroad, or are supervisors st-----g their ego of thinking a degree will save them from layoffs, but no worries you’ll find out soon enough, acting like a bi--h still gets you furloughed if you are craft and your seniority isn’t that high, or your a supervisor who’s knee pads have reached the end of their shelf life, last time I checked degree qualified didn’t matter in a trade job…which means these are most likely su-kass supervisors commenting 🤷‍♂️

I am 1fqq, not a labeled machinist, but i was a mechanic in the real world. The railroad christened a person so called a machinist where as I have ASE mechanic badges in the automotive world. As I got on the railroad, it's all a joke as few workers saying railroad retirement is the best. And seeing majority of the machinist cannot service or repair their own vehicle and electriciian bi--h and moan about making wire and terminals, Carmen complaining about atv. It''s a fu--ing joke

I agree with @1fqq below, majority of carmen, electrician and machinist started out as laborer before given a free journeyman card. You guys are worthless.

Besides ensuring the shoe is actually installed correctly and rigging adjusted properly, who going to fix seized brake rigging, rebuild brake cylinders, and troubleshoot air portions, etc? Better have a machinist on standby.

Problem is the average American only cares about RR in one of two circumstances.

  1. They get stuck at a grade crossing by a train for hours.
  2. One derails in their backyard.

Doesn't matter. Most skilled crafts are former laborers transfer and/or not degreed qualified individuals hired off the street.

After the UP derail in E. Palestine, the owners figured out that they can wreck the lives of whole communities and the government will still subsidize their willful negligence. We need to be talking to the press. We need 60 minutes to do a deep dive into how RR's are using American taxpayer dollars to poison American neighborhoods.

Sh-t on the rails is NOT SAFE without mechanical. And they are cutting to the bone.
