I’ve been here for more than ten years. It’s difficult to divorce from a company where you have spent a great chunk of your professional life and still have memories of actually enjoying your work. However, I don’t have any hopes Dell will recover. All I see is the unquestioned trajectory to nowhere. These endless layoffs will just result in crippled capacity and destroy any morale left. And I don’t see that anyone at the top really cares.

No, cut your losses and get the he-l out
Many folks with 20, 25, 30+ years were let go recently.... you think they care about your 10 years???
only a fool would stay 20 years in the same company and expect something in return for that.
I was tossed out after 25 years of loyal service. Just....like....that..... You can be tossed out just the same. Dell only sees bottom line I'm afraid, and will cut anyone and everyone that "bucks the system"....
I would have been happy to retire from Dell too.... but that's fine, I'll take my knowledge and aptitude elsewhere and be better off.

Most dell people cannot see past the hellscape that is austin and round rock. to them that's their universe and encompasses all things tech
@1tjt+1vhDi5k7. lousy how? perhaps if one wants to stay in "tech" there's are positions out their beyond tech paying well, especially if one isn't tied to the greater Austin area
job market is lousy, who are you kidding
jobs market is crazy right now
This is the best job market we have had in decades. If you could not find a job in this job market then there will be no job market which will be kind to ya..
Of course, if Trump gets elected everything will change.
jobs market is crazy right now, I would start looking to see what is out there but lots of over qualified talent also looking. Dell won't be back to the old days, you'll find that elsewhere
@itr+1vhDi5k7, try selling so.ething else! Selling is selling. Tech is overrated. I got a job in two weeks by leaving tech Sales and I get paid more than when I worked here. Try medical sales!
Dell is Google of all HW companies
Your message is "I failed so therefore you must to."
Go ahead, put in another decade at Dell. You two deserve each other.
I think at this point if you're still there, you're stuck. Noone is hiring. I'd stay until you get severance or join the job hunt while you're still getting a paycheck. Try it. Apply to 50+ jobs per week like the rest of us and see what kind of response you get.
"means more than 50% of employees do not see Dell as a long term investment."
That's correct. This combined with the horrible Tell Dell results that they conveniently ignored.
There is no top talent at Dell. Most have moved on already for bigger and better.
Even a high performer will easily be shown the door when they rock the ‘ego’ by saying they’re leaving. Which means no one really cares about your future, but YOU. Very few will stay in touch afterwards, if anyone. So, why would you care about separating from a job that will just start transferring your work the next day. There is no loyalty in business from employer to employee. If you’re fortunate enough to find another opportunity or it finds you - and you feel it’s a better opportunity for you and yours - run don’t walk.
There is no upside at dell
Even when the times were good they really weren't that good.
More than 50% selected remote. That means more than 50% of employees do not see Dell as a long term investment.
If you're a high attaining remote person. You better leave asap. The Mediocre in persons are getting promoted finally cause they have less competition after years of doing nothing and it will strat to weigh on you to see less qualified people promoted simply cause they are in office... and availble .. you teams will be full of sh---y people soon so it's best to leave now while you have confidence to land a new job and never sell dell in your new role if it's with a partner. Keep taking market share from the mediocre in person losers who are replacing you so they get to feel the stress we feel now with job uncertainty. That's my dream anyways.
@ouw+1vhDi5k7 Dell may be doing well but staff are not.
Recover from what? Dell is doing very well
Yeah our mamage micro manages us to death now. I can't wait to get a new job. Scree this place. That's where I am, already divorced and still cohabitating and dysfunctional. Just letgo and protect your peace.
Give me something that screams, I get up at 5:30 every morning and commute an hour and a half to log into Teams calls for a job I can’t stand. My out-of-touch boss expects me to be in the office five days a week, pretending to care about endless meetings, just so I can afford to keep my kids entertained with the latest gadgets. All while I dream about the day I finally muster up the courage to break free from this grind.
You’ve answered your own question. Get another job.
It’s just a job. If you died tomorrow, they’d reallocate your work by the end of the week.
I think you answered your own question to be honest.
But everyone has unique circumstances. Whatever you choose to do, good luck in your future.
Punch the clock and collect the check.
If you can find a decent, well paying job I’d get out. If that’s not possible, hang on and wait for severance and try to emotionally seperate from work… basically quiet quit. But if it’s affecting your mental health over the long term, no job is worth that. We are all in the same boat, hang in there.
