Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

It’s hard to be productive in an environment like this

I love my job and have always tried to do the best I can.
But Fiserv for a while now hasn't been a place where employees are motivated to put in a lot of effort. It's almost as if this company doesn't want productive employees?
Because everything they do ki--s morale, even the smallest things.

What makes you say that? The fact that Franks made decisions that pushed away the talented people needed to support clients? Or is it the lousy treatment of employees? Or the lack of promotions and comp bumps? Or lack of onboarding and training for new hires? Or the overall cr---y culture that Frank has created?

Probably all of the above.

Yeah, that is a bummer about ESPP, but you can sell it off during the open trading windows. This is because they are preventing insider trading. I did that for a while when there was a 15% discount before FrankServ removed the discount. It was a nice little bonus at the end of the year.

@1hkn+1gyuCvpa - Not sure how the ESPP works now, but back in the CheckFree days, I remember the stock purchases hitting our accounts (at the discount) and we couldn't do anything with it for quite a few days - maybe even two weeks. During that time, our purchase were subjected to the whims of the market. That's fine for anyone planning to keep the stock long term, but my plan was to always sell the stock immediately and pocket the 15% (before cap gains). It hardly ever worked out. I always wondered if the c-level got first crack at selling theirs. Mind you, this was ages (two mergers) ago. As I said above, I don't know how it works now. I soured on the ESPP after realizing we were blocked from selling for a period of time. Never looked at it again.

Well 15% on your money instantly, seems like a decent value. Doesn't mean you have to keep the stock.

Is the ESPP even really a benefit anymore? 15 percent off on declining stock is still declining stock.

If you have done so well. Why is Fiserv continuing to reduce employee perks and benefits? Shouldn't you start investing more in employee's more now? For instance, restore the full 15% discount for ESPP plan, better medical coverage, and better 401k.

Did you not see the incredible financial results Fiserv put on the board? 11% overall, 20% in merchant and 39% in clover…world class!

I agree with you, OP. It feels like every change that comes down the line from Fiserv leadership is to the detriment of the associates doing the real work. I can't recall the last time a truly positive change came down from above, and I agree that even the smallest things (e.g., blocking Spotify to "save bandwidth" or forcing a specific desktop wallpaper) seem to be to the detriment of employee morale. One almost has to wonder if it's somewhat intentional, but at best, it portrays leadership as severely tone-deaf - which doesn't look good. Ultimately, I think the obsessive micromanagement from leadership comes from a place of fear, perhaps fear that if employees are given too much freedom, that output will drop and shareholders will become upset. I don't know how shareholders could be any more dissatisfied than they already must be with the company's market performance since the FD takeover, though.
