Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

I'm so tired.

They recently started a new division of client facing teams, and I'm on one of those teams. Tell me why all day I talk to every damn client but the ones I'm supposed to be talking to. I mean, I know I should be grateful I'm employed for the time being, and that client facing roles are secure....but I'm so tired.

I'm supposed to be dealing with sophisticated investors with a lower call volume, and at first it was that! It was great. I'm a highly trained tenured broker with specialties in niche trading knowledge, and to get to talk to clients where I could utilize this knowledge was fulfilling. But with everything going on now I spend all day with pr--k clients who just crossed their first mil and think that means they're entitled to everything and everyone kissing their as--s. I really. Really. Hate these clients. Its why I took this role in the first place.

I'm exhausted. I'm so burnt out every day makes me feel like crying. I'm in my twenties and am getting grey hair, and if my direct manager weren't so great I would have quit a long time ago. Anyone else feeling this?

Everyone is different, but I love when clients have questions about trading. Not just "What stock do I buy" But "this is what I want to do, can you help me figure out how?" or honestly, just anything where they come in nice and not demanding free stuff. Or people who are genuinely appreciative for your help. I don't need anyone falling at my feet. Just a thank you would be nice.

For those of us not client facing what is a good call for you guys? BTW thanks for what you do because the rest of us just can't do that role.

I’m from TD and to be honest I really hope they lay me off instead of letting me through the gate. I would like to have the time with severance to relax while I search for a new position, because everything I have been learning about on Schwab gives the appearance it will be an absolute catastrophe. I just heard today AI will be listening to our calls for key words on ratings. On the list of things I want to do in my life, having Skynet judge my speaking skills rates somewhere around having my fun parts caressed by a school of piranha.

Part of SPCS myself and yeah it's just a bunch of d-mb sh-t that we do, it's not fulfilling at all. Just d-mb asinine requests and demands. Every once in a while you get a good call and feel like you did something but then it's right back into the back to back calls of ridiculous sh-t.

It's the culture they created by giving everything away for free so.clients now expect it.

And I wouldn't be 100% sure all client facing roles are safe...theyll get hit, just not as bad as other areas .

As I just posted.

This place has caused me so much mental stress it’s laughable. If they are looking for volunteers sign me up.

I do NOT want to wait around for this and stress even more!

I’ve been doing it 13 years buddy and I feel your pain. It’s a constant wack a mole of client issues every day and at least a few of them are upset every single day. With these layoffs it’s only going to get worse. We will have to pick up the work of our fallen colleagues with no extra pay while we are already overwhelmed
