Kind of embarrassing to be walking out with boxes. Are you guys planning on going in during peak hours to get your stuff? Can you get your stuff after hours?

@4lpf+1jAA0xzD, It's Amazing that we work in a workplace for some 20, 30 years and at the end they won't even let you pick up your stuff by yourself. Never, ever forget that you we are only a number. Unbelievable.
Don’t be ashamed, be proud to leave the $hit show!
2016 ACT here. I convinced the nice HR lady in my 1:1 to meet at 6:30pm to retrieve my things in my cube which was a lot. She got cold feet to let me in when the time came. She left me waiting in the lobby, took the bags I brought and she packed my things in the bag and brought them down to the lobby.
Not an Intel employee. After I saw a layoff I reduced my “layoff footprint” so I can grab my things and leave in 5 mins if laid off. Don’t want to draw attention when I leave, just grab a few things and split.
@1kos+1jAA0xzD, Yep, I Cried like a baby too. Screamed my lungs out. Little did I know how thing will be 10X better in just a few years. Sun will rise again and will bring you joy. Hang in there buddy. Don't forget to seek mental help using that Cobra plan.
It is not like you are getting fired for stealing something. Go with your head held high and fake a smile if you have to.
Many noble people in history have gone to the gallows with their head held high and a smile on their face. They were just common people like you and me but raised to the occasion.
Be stoic as I was in 2016. The HR rep was surprised when I smiled and said "good morning, how are you?"
I was a bit teary but I had a smile on my face and decided to go out with my head held high! I cried like a baby in my car and after reaching home.
Im not bragging but trying to cheer you up. The world is big, your family loves you, their strength will carry you as your strength will carry them!
ACT2016 victim here. After the 1:1 meeting with my manager and a HR rep, they told me I was not allowed to go back to my cube and my manager would do the pack up for me. I knew that I was going to be laid-off after receiving that 1:1 email the evening before, so I packed up in the morning and took my stuff to my car during lunch time, not many people noticed.
Halloween is over but you can still reuse that dress and mask if required …
Always remember people have their own problems, they aren't spending as much time looking at you as you may think.
I would start packing up now during your regular work hours before the names come out. Do it before or after your normal breaks, not wasting your break time on packing up. Your break time is your time, so do it on company time.
We were asked to empty our cubes to remodel our floor for remote work. So, I don't have any stuff left there to pack up. Even before covid, I never left any personal stuff at work except my water bottle and coffee mug. I saw people walking out of their office buildings on TV right before I started working and decided never to accumulate personal stuff in my cube !
I would go during work hours.
I went through this in 2015. The look of other employees was like, hope I am not next. They looked more shell shocked than I was. Now I can laugh about it but back then it was a terrible feeling. I just wanted to get to my car quickly. It's all good now. They really should do this to ELT. How can they look themselves in the mirror in the AM.
Not your fault. Don’t be embarrassed ..
ELT should be embarrassed though for their shitshow
When my time came I proudly packed up my stuff and left, I didn’t care who saw me.
Getting laid off was the second most memorable time in my life, the first was when I went to work for Intel. It was a much better company back then.
How many total employees are getting cut?
Put a ball cap and sunglasses on and go in at 5am. You won't see another sole except for the person behind the security desk.
