Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Are we rapidly losing customers?

Why does it seem to me that more and more individual consumers are choosing not to buy Optum because they disagree with the policy of a company that finds cheaper labor in other countries? Is it possible that this is happening?

Most corporate jobs don't pay enough to live on and have few if any real benefits.

Bosses frequently mistreat people with abuse and random schedule changes

That American people quit and others are expected to pick up the additional work with no added pay

That the income gap between the top and bottom of society has steadily widened since since the 70s. CEOs making 400x what their employees make with ownership, shares, partnerships in the company and employees left out to dry as at will lackey workers--typical US empire nonsense.

That companies keep people below full time so they don't have to pay benefits.

That the decline in wages correlates to 'right to work' and anti-union movements.

That our standard of living, pay and time off doesn't remotely compare to other nations.

That companies make record provides and reward us with corporate discounts or $50 gift cards.

That even with insurance, we're all one medical catastrophe away from financial ruin.

@1kpq+1ekwmBw4 : To be very honest with you, no, I do not. I left this toxic excuse for a company in the dust and don't really keep up with what's going on in the broad scope. If what you're saying is true, then you've made my night.

Hey F Optum. Do you not read the news? The company as a whole has been slam dunked by the Feds for Fraud. Oh and yes people have sued and won against the corp for discrimination.

Yeah, it’s pretty much only gotten worse since. You did the right thing, the one-finger salute is all this company deserves.

UHG and moptum take the cake in terms of collecting premiums and not paying out benefits for their "members" (more like suckers). Healthcare insurance companies as a whole should be eliminated

If they are losing customers they will just buy a smaller company to regain market share.

Really unlikely. If anything, I try my best to spread the word about what a toxic sh!thole Optum was and how aggressively they dumped onshore IT in favor of people from India. As an added bonus, many of these offshore people have access to and read customers' PII information; a direct violation of HIPPA. In my group, they tried to skirt around the law by saying they were accessing it from a bastion host in the US - which of course, was still a violation of the law.

Make things like that viral - or at least well-known, and there is a chance enough interest might be stirred up in this company's business ethics to maybe get some attention from a few folks in Washington. Other than that, you might pray for a brave whistleblower with a decent amount of evidence. That said, like most cash cows, Optum has teams of lawyers that will squash the individual like a bug.

I'm just glad I gave this place the one-finger salute years ago. Folks tell me it's only gotten worse since.
