Will they close the Clinton site? Will parts of EMRE merge with chemical research and/or UIS? Appreciate any insights so we are better prepared for the storms.

@3qt - you tell me that my analysis is wrong and my numbers are off, but you are offer no data or anything meaningful to support your opinion.
Can I politely suggest that you refrain from telling someone that they are completely wrong, when it’s really just your gut feeling and you have nothing to back it up ?
@cduy+1comIA7l if you got something to share. Say it. Not everyone is aware of Annandale Exxon operation other than R&D
This thread needs to be bumped to the top, lots to discuss in R&D operations. Annandale. Hey we have A three day weekend......unbelievable.
R&D Ops! The best and brightest starting from the management!
Let’s start in the central plant ,management asleep at the wheel, it wasn’t the rain. Total cluster. Who’s in charge? Can’t make this up......
Didn't have to wait for management to close the site....it decide to close itself...#when it rains in the pilot wing ...it pours
Expand on R&D operations please.
We need a break from CSR bashing as even the worst employees and orgs deserve momentary relief.
Expand on the R&D operations organization please.
I know everyone likes to get a bit CSR Crusader going in these, but it is objectively true that there are a lot of intelligenct people up in Clinton, and its stupid to pretend that they aren't.
But their intelligence is wasted by just phenomenally bad leadership. The research is almost entirely performance and much of it is extremely behind the times. And don't even get me started on a certain R&D operations org.
Clinton has a lot of talent at it. And that talent is completely wasted by incompetent management.
We already have that in pilot plant.
@4mfw+1comIA7l Pretty soon we will have that in ASL, PTD, and Pilot
@3qta+1comIA7l
Do they still put females based on their above average looks and yes men as leads and section heads in that rat ho-e called CSR?
“Ex-Clinton”, not only your numbers are wrong, your analysis is off.
Clinton has NO work coming its way so it does not matter if it is ONLY management. It just generates pseudo work on its own and a good portion of the money in R&D these days is pass through - really given to R&D to fund 3p projects and some academic institutions for PR - look at the announcements.
Since Clinton has not generated anything meaningful in the many years for reasons that they have often been discussed here - including by our beloved CSR warrior -, funding 3P research might actually be the best option IF it was not done simply based on favoritism and on a certain person’s preference.
Having said all that, I do not see Clinton shutting down soon. In fact it was protected compared to other EMRE groups in the layoffs.
PPLE should be first to go , so corrupt NJRSC S- - m , this section is useless overhead outrageous. Mr. Talley check this out.
@2jcr+1comIA7l
Justice will be served to our low life CSR management with a vengeance. My prediction is that Syrup, as one of the most dishonorable captains, will be the first one to jump off the sinking ship instead of going down with it.
This is no time to forget about those who have slithered away from CSR to other upstream, downstream or chemical organizations (or currently desperately trying to find a life saving boat in form of other assignments). Do not let them pollute other orgs.
@2cgt here you go https://www.plantemoran.com/explore-our-thinking/insight/2021/06/are-you-ready-for-changes-to-section-174-research-deductions-in-2022
Can anyone share a link to an article on the O&G R&D tax credit ending? Thanks in advance.
I am not in Annandale anymore, but the stories I hear are that it looks like the site is filled only to 2/3rds capacity. Anyone below CL27 used to have to share an office. Now, EVERYONE has their own office.
This level of staffing can’t support the number of projects that used to come in, suggesting that the R&D and F&L budgets are significantly lowered - perhaps in line with (or even below) the drastically reduced levels in 2020 (e.g. > $20M axed after the economic effects of COVID were felt).
At that reduced level of funding and activity, the Clinton site is not sustainable - more than 85% of budgets will be spent on overheads rather than real work. Combined with the loss of the R&D federal tax breaks next year, I give Clinton 3 years at most before it closes
CBRE coming to Clinton.....?
@1kvs this is hilarious. Thanks for the laugh. Where art thou, CSR Crusader?
Again, does anyone with inside knowledge have anything real to say other than complaining about R&D?
@iwn+1comIA7l I would give up my 401k match to see this duel
Csr crusader will take over and challenge syrup to a 1800 duel
Management in Clinton is the worst I ever seen in the last 30 years . Corrupt is a mild word for it. EXXON VALDEZ= CLINTON
Can someone please plug the huge ho-e????
Ok, now that you are all done with the usual complaints, has anybody anything to add on the real question by the OP regarding the future of R&D under the new study?
What it’s costing the corporation to sustain this site , no way it will survive. Nothing of value except corn and soybeans. Shut those pilot units down save the hydrogen! Management in Clinton is corrupt.
@srd+1comIA7l Of course, get the govt pay for it - including all of us tax payers. The scam just got upgraded. https://www.reuters.com/business/sustainable-business/exxon-proposes-massive-carbon-capture-storage-project-houston-2021-04-19/ https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-10-05/exxon-carbon-emissions-and-climate-leaked-plans-reveal-rising-co2-output
Capturing that last penny-worth from carbon ended years ago.
The perfect golf club exists - a 7-'iron' that swallows its tail.
Carbon Capture research will continue only.
Soylent Green.
Safety research - part of EMRE. And?
@yln+1comIA7l So the EMRE LT found/created additional redundancy? Brilliant! LOL
PTD and CSR will merge
At CSR if you line up various section heads and leads and sp-t on their faces, the sp-t will get dirty.
@way+1comIA7l
Seriously Fokk Corporate Strategic Research (CSR) in New Jersey.
Hands down, this is one of the worst places to work at with a dirty pool of talentless researchers under low class psychopath management.
If anyone hasn't heard - R&D in O&G will no longer be tax-deductible or subsidized by taxpayers pretty soon.
Why continue down that line?
No write-off, no try.
If you are in the Clinton site you would know the state it is in. I left early this year and saw many good people leave and retire
I would just say always keep a backup option. The company (not just EMRE) is destroying itself
Did I hear Research!? CSR Crusader, I summon thee!
