Link Executive Bonuses to Morale

Wouldn't it be interesting if executive bonuses were linked to morale? Pretty obvious they aren't. I wonder if they are linked to headcount reductions.

They wouldn’t like getting those negative bonuses for the awful morale and having to give back RSU’s

@1lop Yeah, and as a former military officer you should know that absolutely nothing was done with/about it. You should also know that Joe isn’t predisposed to telling his chain of command what he actually thinks of it.

When I was in, survey after survey showed that there was practically zero trust in the chain of command two-levels up. That means your subordinates most likely didn’t trust you, and their subordinates probably didn’t trust them. If leadership is the most fundamental element of combat power (Ranger Handbook), what does that tell you?

Not sure that I would use an example like yours in the context of Exxon without irony.

… why would they do that when company plan expects double digit attrition?

I can’t speak to executive bonuses but on my former career as a military officer, I was required to initiate an anonymous “command climate survey” for my unit, which basically measured morale and trust in leadership. If my unit’s results were less than some army benchmarks (which I’m proud to say it never was, quite the opposite), it would’ve been a red flag for my annual evaluation. This would be a nice addition for ExxonMobil.
