Thread regarding Stellantis - Fiat Chrysler Automobiles layoffs

When can we expect mass layoffs to start?

Judging from all the info available, news and rumors, we are talking high numbers. Anyone know when they will begin? It really feels like we all are on the sinking ship.

This time will be more than 1200. So WARN act will be invoked. Names are final since last week. Now they are with HR to print the letters. 60-day notice period for employees affected. Notifications coming either this Friday 28th June or early next week (still not final on date) but will be notified before the long weekend. Cuts are Mostly in ENG and SWX but we in Purchasing are affected also. Finance, Marketing, Quality, and yes even Manufacturing white collared are affected- including at U.S. assembly plants. Only U.S. cuts. No Canada and of course no Mexico. Vehicle development and Quality jobs are moving to Mexico tech center. They are going to setup a second Mexico Tech center in northern Mexico (we as purchasing are involved in searching for the new facility).
In addition, for key roles in NA, they are bringing over plant managers from France and in certain cases from Peugeot Argentina. All FCA leaders are being replaced in a phased manner by PSA leaders. Good luck!

Last layoff was under 500 to follow the warn act guideline. How can they layoff above 500 this time?

Yes, pips plus anything they can find as an excuse to let you go without severance. Things like not going to the office, completing mandatory training on time, failing audits, putting in your time, etc. My experience is hr does this leading into a slow down to trim costs. At least at GM. Hopefully you’re in a position that’s important to the company future goals. Those folks are usually okay (again, at least at gm). Helps to get along with the boss too.

I talked to a friend about it who is a director. He told me managers are already aware of how many they have to cut (80 percent on his team to go to LCC). Not all teams will have the same amount cut, or any at all. Seems to be hitting engineering, purchasing, and developers hardest... Jobs that can't be done remote (since they want to sell CTC)

GM is handing out some PIPs at the mid-year review (along with the review, which highlights performance issue).

Ill bet F and GM are planning layoffs as well.
Stealth layoffs at the very least in order to not embarrass the current administration by avoiding the big negative press headlines.
