Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

EM vs. Peers - severence!

https://www.thelayoff.com/t/190zMYM7

From the chatter (not sure how true the information is) from Shell board, the following is the severence from peers:

Shell USA SVS will pay three weeks per year served (78 weeks max).

BP paid 1 month for every year of service and 1.5 months per year if you had joined before 2009.

Chevron gave the same 3 weeks/service year, but they also cover health insurance for a full year.

Oxy gave Anadarco folks 1 year regardless of years of service. I believe Pioneer did 1.5 years regardless of years of service.

Sad days. Exxonmobil also f—ed up and hired a bunch of Americans to grow their portfolio. If they stuck with the current strategy of hiring out of Bangalore and KL maybe we wouldnt be in the mess we are in today. NSI for DW for being a incompetent fool and wasting shareholder value by hiring so many Americans. He's lost more money for the company than many of the employees he's deciding to call NSI or letting go!

Stupid Aggie. Can we get rid of this incompetent clown and get someone who will actually lead the company?

IOL/EMC received 1 month/year + pension payouts. Still c-appy compared to the Canadian competitors though.

This is a layoff site and human nature is to be not happy with layoffs. This is a forum for people to to vent - of course people are going to complain.

This just goes to show that neither the company nor the employees are top notch. Jeez, the ones complaining here are a bunch of mo–ns.

There is a spreadsheet out there of the PiPd and PiLd in 2020.
If you have access to that, send it to a reliable class-action legal team.
Flotsam and Jetsam, LLC is NOT the one. (Watch them on CSPAN for fun.)

The company wants to continue with PIP, no more real layoffs. That was a one time thing this year. Since they have gotten away with calling employees bad performers just to cut headcout, they will continue with that to save money. I don't agree with it. It's easy to be employed and say those PIP'ed deserved it. But when you get blindsided by it and get PIP'ed, your opinion will change.

Thanks for the information!

If Shell and Chevron are top 10% of the class, EM is in NSI category!

I can confirmed that SVS pay three weeks per year served (78 weeks max). Shell also offer early retirement with full health insurance benefit for those with 10 pts away from full retirement.

The involuntary severance was nowhere near 3-weeks per year that the competition offered. My guess is, it was not even near 2-weeks per year. May be someone who got that can share that information to put things in perspective.

Recall that a certain XOM Upstream president bragged about the severance packages being better than those of the competitors. Pathological liar.

And how much for those there were selected to go? As I recall, none of the other companies had much of a say in the matter either.

That is sad indeed. Wow. No comparison really.

12-weeks of severence for personnel that were PIPed.

Maximum 16-weeks of severence for people who opted to retire.

Does that even compare with competition?

I might have missed this elsewhere - but what did ExxonMobil offer for severance?

Pensions have little to do with Severance packages - if anything.
401Ks with matching have replaced pensions in most public corporations.
with matching, mostly.

Shell offers a pension and you always have the option of taking lump sum regardless of how you leave the company.

Thanks for this research and summary.
Some of these severance packages seem fair and aware.
EM always searches that precipice of class-action lawsuits. So smart.

And where do these EM flag-wavers come from on this board?
Is that the last job for a Texan in this company?

You're a mo–n. The companies listed above don't offer a pension

EM is not the only company with pension. Others have it too!

Besides, if EM always compared itself with its peers, it Needs Significant Improvement (NSI).

Who cares? Should have worked for another company if you peeps are going to complain this much!

Any of the other companies have pensions that also resulted in a lump sum at time of severance? Many who have been here 10~15 years, what was your lump sum worth in addition to your severance? Is that comparable or are you just going to complain that you've been underpaid all these years?
