Thread regarding Ascension Health layoffs

When will it be over?

I know more departments will be hit today, but is there any way to know if that's it or will there be more throughout the week? We haven't been affected yet and I'm worried sick that we might be next, be it today or sometime later in the week. I haven't slept at all the whole night. Hopefully, somebody will know more about what we can expect.

Add to all of this, that existing US based employees who have survived multiple rounds of layoffs are now being asked to fill in for gaps in support as the outsourced companies based in India can't fulfill their contracts due to their countries struggles with COVID19.

Pathetic.

They had to send a WARN letter to the state of MO, according to an article posted on STLToday yesterday. It states 651 people outsourced from August 8th thru December 10th.

The worst thing that happened was being “gifted” to this Healthcare organization. I understand it’s a business as well, but you can’t spew all the praise Jesus words and say your transparent when your not. These core teams for all these applications have built relationships with our hospitals/clinics/physicians etc for years. There is no amount of Google sheets that will transfer the layers of knowledge we all know. Guess what? We are leaving with all that knowledge to be employed where someone does care and VALUES us! The dedication all these folks have put in will be gone! If they think non employed Ascension people will actually perform the job in core way and having a stake in the outcomes like we all have...good luck! Ascension really doesn’t care except to fill their own pockets! Sad for so many that were loyal and cultivated a great thing that will be gone! Let us pray and center ourselves for a minute....✌️out!

@1oqq+1aA6SGwr I swear if one of them says one more pray to God as if he seriously gives a fu-k about their profit margins, I'm gonna scream.

@sqc+1aA6SGwr, they don't care. Every thing is eventually going offshore. They probably own stock or some other stake in these companies, just like Accretive/R1. They serve the interests of their silent private equity partners and pay lip service to the mission. I really would not be surprised if one of them got struck by lightening during an All Hands whilst taking the Lord's name in vain AGAIN.

@atq+1aA6SGwr were you among the Digital Studios? This round of layoffs was applications and platforms. All EHRs, EHR reporting, and Rev Cycle are being outsourced.

Seems like terrible timing to move workforce to this company based out of a country that's in severe COVID pandemic stage right now. I can't WAIT to see how they sugar-coat this move in upcoming Friday calls. They've been hinting at it for months now, it was just a question of when it would be announced. I wager a bet that Gerry will do this damage and then be gone after he's done...only to be replaced by the next CIO that will do something else.

@OP+1aA6SGwr - Please try to not worry too much about it and get some sleep, it is completely out of your hands, and worrying about it will do you no good. AT leadership is going to do what they are going to do and it makes no difference if you've been a good employee or a bad one.

I left them in April. I am not regretting my decision. Whom just got laid off? I was in a studio and it was an entire mess.

Hundreds and hundreds of core people let go yesterday. Maybe even into the thousands. Such a sad day for those people and their families. The reason - have to do business differently.Which is true - Ascension technology and systems is so lacking that’s other health systems are light years ahead of what they are tying to do now.

It’s interesting that leadership thinks that will make progress in the technology space with distrust, lack of transparency, or even all new leadership (which changes every year.
