Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Per Safra Catz, regarding the HW business: “declining, low margin, legacy”

Larry and Safra have publicly said the same thing. Not what I would consider a glowing description of the so-called “golden goose”. They have also both publicly said they don’t care about hardware, and that continued SAAS growth is needed to continue make up for those businesses “in decline”

What a dreadful future for those in the HW org!

That’s right, because we at Oracle LOVE getting reamed up the *** every day by our “management”!

Tough to imagine anybody's life s.u.c.k.i.n.g that bad.

Sure, I mean, they only earn more than what, 90+% of the world's population? It's easy to think of lives that are worse, far worse. Just open a browser to a news website and you will find that many would gladly trade places with "Oracle losers". And you don't have to go far, you can start right in your own community.

@1oyw+18d4Whsk, lots of smart and capable left from the SUNW team, but they cannot fix all the problems...so many are freeloaders because they know how to manipulate the system. Oracle is all about metrics and these freeloaders know how to abuse them. BS in, BS out.

Try to go easy on the hardware folks. Imagine if it had been you who had let your skills wane as the tech industry left you in the dust, cowering in an obsolete, commoditized and irrelevant niche, with no other job prospects to fall back on. Try to imagine being no more skilled than a used car salesman or retail employee, where no education or leadership ability was needed, and servers could be configured and purchased through automated on-line systems, with absolutely no technical savvy or human assistance required. If it were you, and you were trapped in a dead-end professional career in a market that no one cared about any longer, you would feel like you were in a living nightmare, with no recourse except to wait for the axe to fall.

So even if becoming a dinosaur were all due to your own lack of ability to remain relevant, your inability to adapt, and your status as a “B” or “C-Team” player, your life would really s.u.c.k wouldn’t it?
