Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Questions to ask Mgmt on RTO rollout

  • When will the time clocks be installed?
  • Can we badge-in and go home or do we have to badge out?
  • Can we badge in at 11:55 PM and again at 12:05 AM to count for 2 days?
  • Can we give our badges to someone else to badge in for us?
  • Can we badge in at a closer facility?
  • Who will be monitoring compliance? Direct managers, all management layers?
  • Will compliance data be shared across organizations?
  • Will some individuals or groups have less enforcement than others, depending on the individual manager/director/Sr. Director/VP/Sr. VP?
  • Will we be forced to collaborate with employees not in our group if there aren't any members of our group in the office?
  • Will we need a Dr's note for COVID or will pics of a home test result be acceptable?

rumor is they are going to a system where you will only get paid for hours that you are productive. That means a big scalping for many remotees

I manage a team and we've seen very few promotions in the last number of years at least from I8+ or M8+. LTI has been tightened as well so it's not the threat they seem to think it is. I know already that at least 50% of the team will choose to stay remote. Your move, Dell.

@1pbk+1qR9IpPm For people hired remote who are very far from a Dell office, if they do end up being unable to be remote, whether or not they get severance will probably depend on a few factors.

I strongly advise others to look up local laws and maybe even contact a lawyer if it comes to it. No company is going to look out for you.

if less than 3 years you can apply for remote, its just that your manager may decline the request if you havent 3 years service

@1etd+1qR9IpPm No, it's that managers can deny requests for remote if someone has been with the company fewer than 3 years. As another person who claims to have access to the actual document stated:

"Remote classification "opt-in" requests may be denied based on the following criteria:

Know Your Talent (KYT) call: Talent Concerns may be denied
Less than 3 years tenure with the company
The majority (>50%) individual's team is co-located at a single Dell site"

@1byz+1qR9IpPm Give it a break. Those laptops paid your bonuses for several years when storage was finding its way. Unity was a disaster. Storage still in decline industry wide cause everything is moving to server based architectures and cloud.

BTW, if you have not been with the company for three years, you can't apply to the remote option anyway. New hires will be required to be onsite at least 39 days per quarter. They care about Michael's taxes, the local dry cleaner, the local restaurant, car manufacturers, and the gasoline industry way more than they care about the employees.

Oh and my favorite one…will I even have a permanent cube or office? Why not pay us hourly next?

I don’t care about the commute. I did it for 15 years for a great company. A basic place to sit everyone, with some basic services like coffee and people who took the trash out.

This is true Dell now. The last days of EMC are gone. Dell is a terrible company to work for. This is the icing on the cake.

My suggestion, all mark yourselves as hybrid and just don’t come in.

F@ck ‘em. What are they going to do?

Layoff all the engineers in their core business? Ok - then go back to making cr-ppy laptops and fade out. That’s where you were 8 years ago.

make a statement people. If you don't like it, do something about. You have the power when you work together.

Like many we agreed to a remote contract, some bought homes further away from the office due to rising costs family etc.
Now suddenly it's return for 3 days or face HR (my guess is you are let go without redundancy)
So what if you genuinely can't make the 3 days but can make 1 or 2. Are HR still going to fire you while the person who picked the remote option stays or eventually gets let go with a redundancy package.

It seems like a double edged sword between those who can only get onsite 1, 2 days vs choosing the remote option. Imo the remote could be a safer bet if you are employable.

Will this be considered potential “Unequal pay or treatment at the workplace”?

Will this be considered a “bias”?

Since COVID I am allergic to most proteins. I can only eat fish now. Which microwave is best for reheating fish?

Also, about 2hrs later… well I hope the plumbing at the office is as good as it is at home.

What time do people start parking in the EV charging spots? I want to get there early enough to park my RV. Only place I can reliably park and get power to recharge my RV powerwall. Unfortunately , my RV will take up most of the spaces.

I'll be curious how this all pans out...

The good people arent gonna stay because they know they can get a job someplace else without all this nanny bull***t for more money too.

This is going to hurt the company bad in the short and long term

So are they tracking the 39 days by only network activity and not badge swipes?

by
| | Reply
Post ID: @xml+1qR9IpPm

They will track based on network data. You'll be required to be in for 4 hrs a day to count.

The time and location from which you're logged into the network will be tracked. Just badging in and then going home will be noticed.

Are they going to re-open the gym/fitness center? I plan on camping in the fields behind RR8 and will need a place to shower and cleanup.

I'm not sure if any of this applies to FED but if so, I'll probably drive the hour to the office, badge in, stay for an hour or so then go home lol.
